Not long after arriving in the New World, Captain John Smith explored and mapped the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. In 1608, at the mouth of the Chesapeake, he met a tribe known as the Susquehannocks who were much larger than Europeans and the other indigenous tribes of the area.

Does anyone know what happened to the Susquehannock tribe?

Dale, they were decimated by disease and war until just a few were left who ended up in Lancaster, PA.

_there are those who believe the first peoples were actually giants (would be considered ‘giants’ by today’s standards). There was a huge canopy (ozone layer) that oxygenated the world, enabling larger sizes.

I live in that area. Between the James River, York River and Chesapeake Bay. So much history here. Jamestown is a great place to visit too. I couldn’t get the video to play to the end so I don’t know what was said.
