I spoke with Tony Merkel who is the host of The Confessionals Podcast.
Tony spoke to a witness who claims he shot and killed a Sasquatch. He said that he has had these creatures on his property for a long time and felt threatened when the incident occurred.
Check out the show below and hang out for the After Hours Show. See below:

The Confessionals Podcast: “I Killed Bigfoot”
After Hours Discussion
Melissa K
Thanks, Wes. I was just thinking I can’t wait till tomorrow’s show and found this. Love listening to you all express your opinions.

I think Tony is spot on about the Bigfoot being confused as to what Brian really was. Even further was the fact that he was still calling to the gobbler. I think the Bigfoot honed in on him and the call and thought Brian already had that turkey and that really pissed off the creature. Also I think once Brian mentioned the Bigfoot doing the gurgle/growl right before he shot it tells me the Bigfoot was getting aggressive. And way too close.

Great show tonight I liked the comment what did it look like and he answered I don’t know I shot it in the face and blew it off

WOW…best in a long time

I have no axe to grind, and no stand on the no-kill/pro-kill debate, and the guest knows about Bigfoot. I do not believe he shot one, if for no other reason, no emotional reaction. BS detector went off bigtime. If I shot a human looking monster at 15 yards (or was it 20 yards, his details seemed to change) IN THE FACE, whether it deserved it or not, I would have an emotional reaction to it. I grew up with a gun store in the house, had 22 various firearms by the time I was 16, and did constant hunting, having miles of woods behind my house. No details of his hunting or gun knowledge are in dispute here. Unless someone is a professional killer, I can’t buy the emotionless reaction. Sorry. Good discussion here though.
Chad L
I’ve grown up hunting in the south(Louisiana) and still do hunt although not southern Ohio. The majority of the folks I hunt with with have zero fricks to give if this animal approached them in the same manner and they took the same action. It would be almost identical to this account. There was emotion when he said he didn’t want to shoot it, he didn’t know what it was. But he was given little choice. And details changing in distance shot? Are you kidding? 15 or 20 yards. Geez. At first he did say 15, but then said with high certainty it was 15-20 trying to VERY accurate.
Spanky
Ya I’m in your camp on this one Duke.
Spanky
Sorry guys but this guy is a blow hard. Stopped listening at the 35:00 min mark.
Jeff S
I agree Duke. IMO this guy is blowing smoke. It’s guys like this that give us readnecks a bad name.
Natalie J
Thank you for that, Duke. I felt that way, too. My BS detector went off so many times in the first 15 minutes it was all I could do to listen further.
Natalie J
Further to that, anyone ever hear Justin Smeja’s original first interview by some nameless guy on YouTube? It was several tears back before his account was widely known. His account was so emotional, and he was so clearly traumatized by the whole experience that it was impossible not to believe.
Clayton S
This was a fun discussion. Makes me wanna grab a beer now lol.

Here is a guy who wakes up and showers with cover scent soap and shampoos then he puts on clothes that he has washed with a cover scent laundry soap and dries them with a cover scent dryer sheet. his body, pants, socks, underwear, shirt and boots , gloves and hat along with face mask have no human smell to them. I would say that when he arrived at his hunting spot and set up he sprayed the area with a cover scent. when he started making hen turkey calls, of which could be heard a 1/2 mile away the monster tom started to gobble and headed his way. well if that 9 foot tall bigfoot was hungry he would be headed towards the turkeys also. I think the tom heard or saw the bigfoot and shut up, so that left the hen turkey. Bigfoot then headed for the hen. predictors can pinpoint sounds remarkable well. I think the Bigfoot could not see or smell the hunter and started moving in for the hen turkey kill. when he got to within 15 yards the hunter said he started yelling at the Bigfoot and that made the Bigfoot so mad that he had been tricked, therefore growled and got aggressive. At that point I think he had no other choice..

Wes,
Not judging the man, I wasn’t there I’m 100% sure of this, 31/2 magnum at 15 yards with a tight turkey choke the pattern will vary from pattern size of softball to canalop. When you shoot a turkey in the head and neck at that range you can still describe what a turkey looks like in detail.
Scent lock is absolutely not needed in hunting turkeys anyone who hunts these birds knows this.
Unless some of the shot went through the eye sockets into the brain I find it awful hard to believe those shots in that turkey load carried enough kinetic energy to penitrate the thickness of the frontal lobe.Just my appion.
Bob
SHANNON D
Jack, why would someone go through all that scent control for turkey hunting, turkeys use their eyes for defense not nose.. Scent control that you describe is done by bow hunters that hunt in tree stands..
Jack M
shannon you not only have to worry about the turkey but all predators coming into that turkey call. I have learned that all animals know when man is in the forrest. The more you do to cover your scent the more wildlife you will see. Over sixty years of being a hunter and out in the bush has taught me to use cover scent and not to make any noise or you just chase the animals away.
Trent M
Thank you Tracy A for posting those videos as I have very little experience with anything other than slugs and buckshot and those videos answered some questions I had. And Jack that was a well thought out breakdown of the possibilities. And Bob M, now you have me wanting to see turkey shot against hard targets and it’s penetrating ability at 20 yards. Most of what he says sounds like the truth to me but it’s good to back up those feelings with provable forensics. Thanks everyone for the thought provoking post!!
Ryan S
The no emotion cards is a bunch of bull in my opinion. For one it happened 4 years ago and he clearly hates these creatures. Nobody i know cries over killing something you have a hate in your heart for.
Aaron M
He was a bit of a yay-hoo but I believe him. Sounded very genuine to me.
thomas w
little too arrogrant for my taste. it kept throwing me more towars the BS side
Melissa K
the second I heard the three yells I felt I heard them before. It sounds almost exactly like the very end of Willow Creek when the three Sasquatch yell and there are cricket sounds as well…?
Kim C. L
I personally find no reason to doubt this account.
Dan M
Wes, a few questions — is there any way you could get this guy on SC? A follow up type show to get more details and questions answered. Would you, Woody and Tony be willing to travel to this guys property? Check out the kill sight, see if there’s any activity and ask others in the area if they have had occurances. Did this guys friends actually see the dead body? And if so why didn’t they take any pics? Did anyone ask him if he had the capability to take a photo right after the shooting?
Karen C
Loved the After Hours show with Tony and Woody, Wes. Your thoughts on the Killing the Bigfoot sounds spot on to me, Thanks so much…
thomas w
one of thee most “maybe it is maybe it isnt BS” shows ive ever heard. Wes has a great BS detector by now and even tho Tony is newer to this stuff, its good storytelling nonetheless
Christian L
Dude I could not agree more. Every time I think this guy is full of sheeeeeat he says something that makes me think he actually may be telling the truth…sadly….cuz he’s a bit of an arrogant $&@%#…he also sounded like he had 4-5 cocktails before the show????. Tony has the patience of a saint! I will give him props I agree that there is an active disinformation campaign. “The red ones are pains in the ass” Hahaha…I guess “gingers” are hated even in the wild!!??
Steven B
Minor correction to “After Hours” comment about only “legally being able to hunt with shotgun holding 3 shells”.
It would depend on what the game laws are in your state. Federally, you are only allowed 3 shells total capacity when hunting *migratory* birds such as ducks and dove. However, depending on the state, you may hunt non-migratory birds (turkeys) and animals with a shotgun that has a capacity of more than 3 shells. This is true of the state of Texas. I can hunt with a shotgun that has the “plug” removed providing I am not hunting migratory game birds. I do not know what the law is concerning this in the state of Ohio.
From: https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/general-regulations/means-and-methods
“Magazine Capacity
There are no restrictions on the number of shells or cartridges a legal firearm may hold when hunting game animals or game birds (except migratory game birds, see Legal Shotgun).”

I see what everyone is saying regarding the “no emotion” side. However, having many rednecks relatives, and listening to their stories and accounts, how this dude acted seemed pretty much par for the course on this one. I agree, he seemed to possibly have a couple drinks in the tank, but that generally only serves to make some folks less emotional…At least when it comes to bragging about a hunting kill. Given his dislike for these creatures and the over the top redneck bravada, his attitude honestly doesnt seem that out of place to me.
Isaias H
Great Show!!!! You guys make a good team.
