On December 3, 2018, William “Bill” Dranginis, who had been fighting pancreatic cancer, passed away. He had moved to Florida, to be near family, in the last few months.
Bill Dranginis, age 59, was a surveillance and security expert, originally from Manassas, Virginia. In 1995, Bill had a sighting of a Bigfoot while metal detecting with friends in the forests near Culpeper, Virginia, and had since then dedicated his free time and efforts to capturing video and or audio evidence as proof of the creatures existence.

Nothing will ever come out of Northern Virginia, too many of the ones that are hiding it, live there.

Thanks Wes. I had no idea he has passed and wondered why I have not heard anything about or from him in several years. I think it was 2012 when he gave a lecture at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference. He detailed his initial sighting and how the FBI agents did not want it known they had seen a Bigfoot, for the obvious reasons. He also had a motorhome type vehicle outfitted with a lot of technology. One time he took Jane Goodall out for a couple of hours in it, mostly just chatting though. He stated she fully believed the Bigfoots are out there and had a keen interest, but just no time to devote to this endeavor with her Chimp project taking all her time. He also had a new camera technique. This was a camera that he had mounted up high in a tree that would take pictures every few seconds or whatever time frame one wanted to use. His was set at a picture every 10 seconds and he had filmed some ducks on a stream for his presentation. I at the time ( forget the camera name ) that this would be a great technique as no infrared sensor and up high enough they might not detect it. Of course the drawback is it would not work at night. William thought outside the box. R I P William.

William mentored me after I contacted him around 1998, and I continue to research on my own in places he shared with me. A kind soul and intelligent individual, and as you say, he thought outside the box. The camera is a Plotwatcher, and has various settings for start/stop and time-lapse. No IR or light to give it away, so the downside is no night photos unless your area has an external light source. Bill introduced me to Ryp Lyttle, who also thought outside the box – a true avant-garde soul. Researching with both, for even a short time, saved me years of trial and error and took me on deep dives into the gritty rarely-heard truths behind so many facets and people in this arena. May they both rest in peace as they urge us on from beyond. And, as Bill always reminded me, “Look up; always remember to look up in the trees”.
