What Is That?!

A listener writes “My encounter wasn’t anything too exciting but I was about 13 or 14 when it happened. To give a small backstory it was in central east texas in the Henderson area which I don’t expect you to know where that is but it’s about 30 minutes north of Nacogdoches, TX.

Anyways my grandparents owned a ranch with about 600 acres worth of land and spent most of my childhood there. I grew up in those woods I knew them like the back of my hand even at 13. For my 11th birthday my dad got me a brand new Honda four wheeler. And I would ride it for hours on end on the property. So I spent alot of time in the woods. I was always scared to go to the back part of the land though. I never knew why but it just always felt like something was watching me. When I get those feelings I usually tend to leave the area. Growing up my parents always warned me about panthers. And there definitely was some out there because we found tracks at one point. So that was about my biggest fear in the woods. But my mom would always tell me that there could always be something else out there. Which she gave no context to because she didn’t want to scare me. But then the infamous show finding Bigfoot came out and I was obsessed with it. I always knew there was something else in the woods. And I know that most of the show was not 100% but I loved the phenomenon.

Those screams on there are actually some that I heard as a child. I always remember hearing strange noises at night and I would ask what was that and the response was I don’t know. The car would start up and we would leave. But anyways back to the encounter. It was during the fall months because I remember the trees were changing colors. And it was me and my best friend at the time. We were riding my four wheeler in the back part of the property that I didn’t like going alone. So I had an Erie feeling going in but I wasn’t alone so I kinda ignored it. But I definitely kinda rushed through the ride. To set the scene this back part was basically a big field surround by trees on each side. Their was a creek to cross to get in and out of that side. Well we were heading towards the creek and ironically we were talking about Bigfoot. I know what your thinking. You thought it into existence. And I said yes I definitely believe in it. Then she’s behind me on the four wheeler and she points off to the left and says well then what is that? I didn’t see it at first but the second I did a whole feeling ran over me and fight or flight immediately kicked in. I froze for a second then floored it and got across the creek. I got a safe distance away and killed the four wheeler.

I honestly did it hoping I could hear it running away but the fear kicked back in and I got out of there. Then we went back home and ofcourse nobody believed us. I finally talked my dad into going back out there a day later to see if there was footprints. But of course nothing. At the time I was probably about 5’4 and I couldn’t even get close to sticking my hand up and it being how tall it was. I would say it was close to 7 to 8 feet tall. So for the question of what I saw. I saw the face of a gorilla with the cone head, it was either very dark brown or black, and the biggest thing that stuck out was its hand. It’s hand was hanging down because it was peaking out from a small tree. It’s hand was HUGE. But I’ll go into much more detail.”
