We think it’s just someone in the woods

A listener talks about an encounter in Manning, SC.

He writes “I have two older siblings and my mother was a single parent so my siblings watched me while my mom was at work. One night we were standing in front of my older brother’s friend’s apartment. He lived with his grandmother in a senior community that was just built next to the apartment complex where we lived. Both of these establishments were next to a heavily wooded area. My brothers friend lived directly across from the woods. This one night, my sister, brother, his friend, and myself are standing in front of my brothers friends friend’s apartment. All of a sudden, we hear a long hoot. As naive kids, we think it’s just someone in the woods so we hoot back. A couple of minutes later, we hear another hoot, so we hoot back. Keep in mind, This is in the late 80’s before any bigfoot shows were on television.

We joked that someone was messing with us in the woods. Suddenly my sister says, “look at those red dots” At that moment my heart stop. It was 4 sets of red eyes staring at us but I was the only one that realized what it was. I told my siblings lets go but they told me to be quiet. Out of the blue, we hear a tree snap, and we all take off running. When we thought we got to a safe distance, my brother and his friend said that there was people in the woods trying to scare us. I tried to tell them that it was a bigfoot but they told me to shut up and that I didn’t know what I was talking about. This would not be my last encounter.

I told my best friend what had happened and he said that he had an encounter too. So we would venture out in the woods looking for these things. Thank God we never found one. I had a pocket knife my father gave me so I thought we were safe. Yeah right. Several times, my friend and I would do vocalizations once the sun began to set and we would often get responses. We often saw eye shine coming from the woods.

We both thought we saw dark figures leaping for cover out the corner of our eyes. My last encounter came a few nights before my family was supposed to move from the apartment complex. I stood near the tree line and let out a long hoot. From a distance I sat 3 separate sets of eyes. I no longer felt fear. I think these creatures knew me. I think they saw my friend and I in the woods and knew we weren’t in any harm. I never told anyone else about my experiences. I came across your broadcasts and thought I’d share my experience with fellow believers.”
