Was the technology available to fake it?

Unexplained on Gaia writes “Many claim this Bigfoot film is a hoax, but was the technology available to fake it?”

The Patterson–Gimlin film (also known as the Patterson film or the PGF) is a famous short motion picture of an unidentified subject the filmmakers have said was a Bigfoot. The footage was shot in 1967, and has since been subjected to many attempts to authenticate or debunk it.

The footage was filmed alongside Bluff Creek, a tributary of the Klamath River, about 25 logging-road miles northwest of Orleans, California, in Humboldt County. The film site is roughly 38 miles south of Oregon and 18 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. For decades, the exact location of the site was lost, primarily because of re-growth of foliage in the streambed after the flood of 1964. It was rediscovered in 2011.

If anyone has a doubt, read Bill Munns “When Roger met Patty” Bill has a large resume in film, camera work, production, creature costume fabrication and now CGI. He breaks every aspect of the film down, and concludes that is has to be a biological being in the film.

    1967, That is a real Sasquatch!…Period.
2017, If the technology to make this complex but realistic suit has been available for so long then why hasn’t someone replicated this? Because they can’t and… too expensive. Make a suit 8 to 10 feet tall stick a six foot dude in it and ask him to move around without busting open his head. Goooood luck!

I think the creature’s reaction is the tell all. If Roger was putting on a scam, he would have made it far more dramatic. Like directing whoever to crouch down and peak over stuff or run towards the camera etc. The behavior of the creature is what tells me it is real. That and the multitude of other reasons that Mr. Munns pointed out.

I remember thinking for years…I wish a Hollywood special effects artist would explain or show how this could have been done, or not done in 1967…and then the Munn book came out. He covers every possible aspect of the “suit”…and proves how it couldn’t possibly be a suit made then, or even now regardless of the budget.

Agreed bigtime with the Munn’s Report. Very detailed with a lot of technical jargon, most would not, including me, understand. However it leaves no doubt this is a biological creature that is not human. Two other technical sources are the films Legend meet Science and National Geographic American Paranormal Bigfoot. The best suit available at that time would have been Herbie the Gorilla in the Beverly Hillbillies. Of course the original Planet of the Ape films were out then and are pathetic compared to Patty. Films and special effects this day can not replicate what is seen in that film, just watch the latest Planet of the Apes. Why on Earth would Roger and Bob have went all the way down to Bluff Creek to hoax, when they spent the majority of their time in the Gifford Pinchot, Mt. St. Helens area that was close to their home of Yakima, WA?

It is just too easy and convenient for one to claim it is a hoax. That, especially for the academia, saves them the time to due the research. After all a Bigfoot could never exist in this day and age when we know everything – Right.

I don’t remember when I first saw the film, but it was in the 70’s, and I know I felt it had the “ring of truth” in it. It wasn’t hard to solidify my absolute belief in the existence of this unknown creature after I started listening regularly to SC. I think my greatest surprise was that they are distributed around the country and around the world. Before I became enlightened through SC and myriad other sources and readings, I probably thought they were just in the Pacific NW. My friends think I’m nuts, of course, but it just makes too much sense to me to be dismissed.

If you spend your life in the outdoors you see lots of game and get used to how they react when you come upon them.
If I were in the woods and jumped a big buck I expect it to flee and get outta dodge. The reaction of this creature is the same way game acts when suprised. Leaving the scene and sometimes looking back. Deer do it bears do it elk do it. I wonder if Rodger remembers if the wind was in their face that day? I would think that the creature would have smelled them or heard them if not for the right conditions. The sound of the creek would maybe cover the noise of the horses. Also being on horseback gave the men the height advantage to see over blowdowns. Man if that is fake I need to seek help cause it looks like a real anmial to me.

Ive heard that gimlin was offered 1 million dollars to admit it was a hoax….and wouldnt take it. This guy barely eeks out a living now. He never made big money in the seventies when it came out. Most people wont believe until confronted with a sightging themselves.

That is true. Doug Hajicek confirmed it in the interview with Wes a few weeks ago. I had heard it second hand, but from a reliable source and was most appreciative of Wes asking Doug about it. Bob Gimlin has had a lifetime reputation of being an honest person, really a true gentleman and this only adds to the legend.
