The Kecksburg UFO incident occurred on December 9, 1965, at Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, United States, when a fireball was reported by citizens of six U.S. states and Canada over Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario.
Astronomers said it was likely to have been a meteor bolide burning up in the atmosphere and descending at a steep angle. NASA released a statement in 2005 reporting that experts had examined fragments from the area and determined they were from a Soviet satellite, but that records of their findings were lost in 1987. NASA responded to court orders and Freedom of Information Act requests to search for the records. The incident gained wide notoriety in popular culture and ufology, with speculation ranging from extraterrestrial craft to debris from the Soviet space probe Kosmos 96, and is often called “Pennsylvania’s Roswell”.

I was not familiar with this story. 1965…Of course records went missing. Spooks, skunks and ‘assassinations JFK, RFK and MLK Jr. and Vietnam all under LBJ. …and no one knows what happened or why…just alot of mumbling.

By early spring 1987, 3 publishing houses had books out on UFO’s and UFO organizations membership was skyrocketing. I don’t know that any of that matters.

I remember as a 9 year old reading about this fireball in our local newspaper The Midland (Michigan) Daily News. It was not until many years later that I realized this was the Kecksburg alledged UFO Acorn Shaped Craft was. And of course the well trained retrieval crews locked everyone out of the area. It does not seem at first thought that a real UFO would burn up in our atmosphere and create a fireball. However be it a real UFO or a Soviet craft (never acknowledge by the Soviets that I know of) it would be treated the same and of course end up at Wright Patt or the S-4 facility eventually in Nevada. Ben Hansen on his UFO series UFO Witness had a show on this a couple of years ago. I look forward to this man’s knowledge and the hierogliphics has peeked my interest. But I bet they are really more like some unknown geometric symbols like seen at Bentwaters Royal AFB back in Dec. of 1980. We shall see.
