A listener writes “I work, and have always worked, second shift. One night, I was driving home at around midnight when I saw something that I still can’t explain.

Over my left shoulder, through the trees and against a clear evening sky, I saw a white, glowing orb. It looked to be a little bigger than a beach ball. It was bright enough that the leaves on the trees were clearly illuminated, making their green color really stand out, but it wasn’t so bright that it was blinding.

The orb came toward me at roughly a 30-degree angle, traveling over the hood of my truck. Then, suddenly, it appeared to smash into the pavement right beside the passenger-side bumper.

I immediately stopped.

I got out of the truck expecting to find a crater, pieces of something, or at least some kind of evidence that the object had actually hit the ground. There was absolutely nothing there.

I got back into my truck and sat there thinking, Did I really just see that? For a moment, I even convinced myself that maybe I hadn’t. Then I started listening to your podcast and realized that seeing strange glowing orbs isn’t as unheard of as I had thought. Apparently, similar things have been reported all over the country, if not all over the world. When I tell people about what I saw, most of them laugh or don’t believe me. I honestly have no idea what that object was. All I know is that I saw it, and it was one of the strangest things I’ve ever witnessed.

Then, about 10 to 15 years later, I had another encounter although this one was completely different. I was on my way to work, driving on the other side of town. It was a bright, sunny day. You know how sunlight can shine through a cloud and cast a shadow onto a field, a road, or the ground below?

This was something like that, except it wasn’t really a normal shadow. There was a huge area of darkness, almost like a shadow that you could see through. But in the center was a completely solid black mass. You couldn’t see through that part at all. I was driving down a hill when I saw it and stopped. At the same time, a woman in an oncoming vehicle stopped on the other side of it. This thing was moving through a small valley between us.

We both got out of our vehicles. As it passed, she yelled to me, “What the hell was that?” I told her, “I have no idea, but that is the craziest thing I have ever seen.”

We stood there trying to figure out what we were looking at, but it just kept moving. The thing was enormous. The shadow-like area surrounding it looked to be roughly one and a half times the size of a football field. In the center was the solid black mass, which I would estimate was about the size of a two-car garage. Both of us had the same strange feeling: if we had driven directly into the center of that thing, where the black mass was, we probably would have totaled our vehicles. I’ve heard plenty of reports about glowing orbs, which makes me wonder about my first experience. But I’ve never heard anyone describe anything like the second one.

So what exactly was it?

I have no idea. I just know that I saw it, another person saw it at the same time, and neither of us could explain what we were looking at.”
