Trespasser’s on the farm

A listener writes “I have had repeated encounters on my family farm in south Alabama. I am a medically retired Marine in my 30s with extensive surveillance and infantry training and I have also been an avid hunter my whole life. As a member of a STA platoon I “surveillance and target acquisition”, I am well trained in observance and reporting techniques.

I believe that i have actually seen 2 creatures at a distance of 300 meters that until recently, I thought were men in ghillie suits. over the past few months I have tied some things together in my mind that just don’t add up to local wildlife. I was pushed off of my pond one evening by what i thought was hogs, but I never saw them and whatever it was basically escorted me off of my property. Another evening I was grunted at by what I thought was a whitetail buck while riding my ranger by that same pond.

If it was a deer, that would be the first time in my life one has ever grunted at me from right next to the trail when it had plenty of time to hear me and get out of there this grunt was so deep and guttural that I seriously doubt it was a deer of any kind. I have also heard teeth chattering by the treeline that just sounded way to loud to be hogs.

Sounds like you are just the person in just the right place to help out the folks in episode 451!

…after you sort out what’s happening in your own backyard, of course.
