Spoke to the witness and he has agreed to come on the show. A listener writes “I had an encounter with a Sasquatch while raccoon hunting. It was back in the late 80’s near Chateau Elan winery in northeastern Georgia.
Back then the area we were hunting in was very rural, it has since become very populated. We were hunting on a big piece of land we referred to as Beards pastures. The Mulberry river ran through the property, and we had to cross it often due to the dogs treeing the raccoon on the other side of the river. The owner wanted us to keep a lookout for any holes in the fence line as he had several calves and a few of his heifers go missing.
A few weeks before our encounter we discovered one of the 700-800 lb cows across all of the fences and the river as well. Which puzzled us as to how it got over there and even more so due to her neck was bent at a very unnatural angle. As if something jumped on its back and reached over the head pulling it all the way back to the spine and twisting it a full circle in the process. Strange to say the least. On the night of the encounter our dogs were running when all the sudden a howl stopped the dogs from barking instantly. It was close to the Ohio howls and even though it was 500+ yards away, it was really loud. As soon as it finished the howl Mr. Chandler told me to load the rifle. I remember saying this is just a 22 it would just piss off whatever had howled that loudly. It sounded massive as the volume and length were just incredible. We stood there calling our dogs to come back for a few minutes when we saw several sets of eyes coming at us. It was our coon hounds and they were scared and whimpering. I said I have a 30-06 in my truck as it was deer season, we made a large circle staying a good distance from the wood line and river. Coon dogs are normally fearless, we had treed bobcats and even a black bear before. But when we got close to the truck they jumped in the dog boxes and layed down, one his under the truck growling at me when I tried to get him from under it. After retrieving my deer rifle and turning the truck toward the wood line. So I could light up the field and woods as to maybe see whatever it was. Mr. Chandler started mocking the howl, and we could hear what sounded like a bulldozer coming through the woods. It stopped just on the other side of the river and started making a grunting noise. Mixed with a growl and Chandler continued mocking every sound it made.
It started thrashing the trees and brush, seeming to go from side to side and intensifying its efforts. At this point I couldn’t see it, I had climbed in the back of the truck and was looking through the scope of my rifle on the roof it. I could see a 15 foot tree above the under brush all of the sudden it broke it and thrower it in the river. A few days later I returned and saw tree was broken off 8 feet off the ground, it was 3 to 4 inches in diameter. All the sudden we heard a big splash it had jumped in the river and was coming toward us. It started up the bank and I could see the eye shine and a faint outline of an upright man shaped figure. And it looked 3 to 4 feet wide and at that point I didn’t think a 30-06 was enough gun, maybe a head shot would be the only way to drop it. I get the feeling that Mr. Chandler knew what it was, he asked did I have shot. I said yes but I didn’t know what the hell it was, and fearing my fathers wrath I couldn’t pull the trigger. About the time I could see the eyes another howl came from way down the river thought it was a really long ways off. Mr. Chandler immediately said boys it time we get out of here and I think he was right. One of these things maybe, but we had no way of knowing how many there actually were. So we left, at the time I really had no idea what that had been. Sure we had heard of Bigfoot on tv and watched the movie The Legend of Boggy Creek but I really thought it was an old wives tail. That’s the encounter in a nutshell but I have more strange happenings as well. Like the time my father went toward an orb of light that was creepy as hell and others.”

Did he get the dog in the truck that was under the truck? He said he turned the truck so the headlights were facing the river. What happened to the dog?

I heard an encounter from a coon hunter while training his dogs for competition in Logan Country, Ohio about 4 years ago. He did not see it ( said he had seen one in a clearing while driving in W VA a few years earlier ) as it was running away and making a huge noise like bulldozing trees. His dogs came running back, scared and wanting to get in the truck. I imagine there are many coon hunters across this country that have some remarkable tales to tell, if they only would. I look forward to this gentleman’s also.
