Wes, I enjoyed listening to your Podcasts. Keep up the great work. I would like your opinion, I live on the edge of a beautiful lake with property the backs up to the Bankhead National Forest.
I have a habituation site. I have lived here about six years. I have spent the last three years Installing outdoor lighting, security cameras to discourage house slapping, rock throwing, window peeking, howls, whoops, growls and roars. Outdoor lighting and security cameras have been the best deterrent.
I’ve seen creatures on a few separate occasions in the last five years. They are extremely fast. I’ve had many more encounters that I am suspicious of being Sasquatchy. I have personally been within 15 feet of the deepest iridescent blue Eye shine I’ve ever seen in an empty lot right next to my house.
My girlfriend had the best or worst encounter, depending on how you look at it, July 4 last year. Scared the s#@t out of her. She spotted a juvenile while jogging in our complex. She was in a major panic attack by the time I got to her. That’s a whole another story and possibly a topic of discussion on your podcast.
I have the most activity starting in February as through mid July and Aug. September through January they seem to go dormant or possibly migrate out of the area.
I have learned to stay out of the woods and keep to myself. I certainly don’t go out anymore at night during the summers. I’ve learned that hiking, four wheeling, biking, kayaking, night fishing, all drums up activity with these creatures. I feel they’re mostly curious, foraging for food and rummaging through trash. However, at times, I have been extremely nervous.
Despite all the activity and my efforts to discourage inter-action at my house.
I am still curious and intrigued with these creatures. I believe that’s why I listen to your Podcasts. It’s great to hear of other people’s personal encounters. Some of them a very interesting with new information. I’m not sure what these creatures really are. I think there’s more to them than a common wood Ape or hominid.
Therefore, I’m seriously thinking about purchasing a large drone with a Flir camera.
I’m not interested in marching back through the woods seeking these creatures but I am interested in flying a drone through when I know they’re in the area.
Any advice would be helpful.

Remember curiosity is what killed the cat. I have the same thing here. Around the summer months they don’t seem to be very active. My option don’t do anything to get there attention. You don’t know what kind of personality they have.

Sounds interesting. I had to look this place up because I hadn’t heard of it before.

I was looking at the map on the link you posted… saw “Houston” Then went to zoom in. There was like 2 raggity ass houses, and broken down church… Zoomed back out.. “oh yeah…” Houston ALABAMA!! LoL Far cry Houston TX. That Bankhead National Forest looks TINY compared to other places.. but it looks like PERFECT squatch territory. If the area behind the home depot in TX where the “Tent Peeker” video was filmed, and where Rick Dyer filmed him fake kill documentary has taught us anything, they don’t so much prefer DEEP REMOTE FOREST, as much as they like Thick forest surrounded by residential where they can rummage, watch, and generally be curious. I think you have a better chance seeing on in a place like that, than you do i a HUGE vast forest. I live in the Adirondack Mountains, and people generally dont realize this but the Adirondacks here in NY are bigger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier and Grand Canyon National Park C O M B I N E D!!!!!!!!!!! The largest forest we have in the US is here in the NY. This much area can make it difficult to see or track anything. Something like that Bankhead seems perfect for squatchin.

Travel all throughout the southeastern US and yes that area in northwest Alabama to northeast Mississippi into southern Tennessee is rural as all get out. Can absolutely see where if there were going to be a small population this area would be well suited for it. Will want to listen to this episode for sure.

I’ve been hearing about a lot of sighting from Bankhead lately. I live in Alabama as well and I do my research in Lowndes County. The BF’s seem to go away during hunting season October through the end of February. Then they come back in March. I don’t know where they go but I think it has to do with all the deer hunter’s out in the woods. My area is on the Alabama river and near large, silver power lines and rail road track runs through as well with about 10 homes on a dirt road. I’m planning a trip up to Bankhead. I hear it is just beautiful up there especially in the fall when the leaves change colors. I of course want to see more than just the beauty; I’m looking for signs of BF as well. I hear of BF sightings from the west side of Alabama all the way to the east side of Georgia but I’m not surprised by it due to all the forest area’s and different size water ways. I’m so glad you posted your story. Thank you for that. If you ever want to contact me, you certainly may do so any time. I’d love to hear more about your encounters. Thanks again.

Oh I forgot to tell you that I too fly my drone over the forest as well. It sure is a lot easier this time of year when the trees don’t have their leaves on them! But I haven’t ever seen a BF on the drone but it sure is pretty to see the area from that height.

GLEN K. YOUR RIGHT… BUT IT TAKES A SET TO DO THAT IN THE MIDNIGHT HOURS…. I WOULD DO IT WITH A GROUP OF 5 OR 6 WELL TRAINED IN WEAPONS,. FLEER AND NIGHT VISION… NIGHTI VISION SCOPES… AND MAYBE A ABRAMS TANK THROWN IN FOR GOOD MEASURE…

Better have that drone insured. It would be a good rock target for them! 🙂
