Those Eyes!

A listener writes “A friend of mine’s dad passed and I offered to take him for a drive up the Alaska highway because he enjoyed it and he was having trouble being alone.

We set out later in the day as it was spur of the moment, so it was around late at night and we were still around 80km from Fort Nelson on our way back from our drive. It’s not ideal to drive in the dark on the Alaska highway because of the moose, bear, and other wildlife that are potential hazards on the road.

At 1:30am, we came upon a large buck running frantically all over the road. The embankments on either side were quite steep but we decided to pull over in case there were other deer we couldn’t see that might come charging in front of the vehicle. My friend got out to pee since we were stopped. I got out too and watched the buck go tearing up the embankment. Then, when it was about 1/4 of the way up, I heard a huge crash and some terrible cracking noises. Followed by this was complete silence and out of nowhere, two huge whitish silver eyes were staring at me from the darkness up the embankment where I had seen the deer attempting to climb up. These eyes fixated on me and never blinked…even when I waved and shouted at it. It was extremely unnerving because there was almost no light at all, only light from the headlights, and they were pointing away from the creature. But these eyes seemed to glow on their own. I could even make out pupils that’s how large, glowing and detailed they were. The shape and placement of the eyes told me the face was flat and wide. Plus the eyes were so bright they seemed to light up the face. The top of the nose looked broad and flat. The head…what I could make out…was round and very large.

I yelled to my friend who was walking back to the car, but he understandably was too tired and grief stricken to care or notice what was happening and suggested we get out of there as it might not be safe.

At the time, I never thought it could be Sasquatch, but it wasn’t far from my other encounter and I cannot think of anything strong enough to hold itself on the side of that steep embankment with such grace and finesse. I think it was hunting that deer, or perhaps a group of them were hunting. But all I know is as soon as that deer started up that embankment, something grabbed it and after the struggle the whole area was dead silent…eerily silent.”
