A listener writes “My boyfriend and I went camping in west Texas yes, in the summertime. We often chose our camping sites based on meteor showers and where they could be viewed the best.
We had gone camping many times previously in many areas of Texas over the eight years we were together and really worked together well when camping out. We arrived at our tent campsite near the Devils River State Natural Area in June of 2000.
We went to a ranger’s house to get an idea of who else may be in the area because my boyfriend liked to swim and fish naked and I preferred to camp secluded for this reason. The ranger told us no one was scheduled to be in the area we chose to camp in and there was no one else in that area currently.
We chose the area because it was only about a mile hike to the river from our campsite. The area was hike only, no vehicles allowed. Really pristine area.
It looks like desert and yes, technically it is desert, but, there are some really, what I call “fairy lands” near the river. There are pines and all types of interesting plants and it is just an awesome place to wander and explore. Any who, my boyfriend and I slept on the flat-bed trailer angled up at about a 30 degree angle that first nite so we could get a good look at the meteor shower. Had a great night. The next morning we hiked back in towards the river. He went fishing and I wondered off exploring and taking photos.
I was probably about a mile away upstream down at the edge of the river bed squatting down checking out a crawdad and some green moss in the water, taking photos. Then I heard a huge limb crack! Like something or someone stepped on it and broke it. I had an OS moment! I froze, because I knew whatever it was, it was big. I thought Mt. Lion then I just concentrated and listened. No other sound. I knew whatever it was, was waiting for me to react and I knew running was not an option. The bank of the river was a couple of inches higher than my height so in order to see whatever this was, I knew I had to stand up on my tip toes and look over the bank.
I slowly rose up and peeked over the bank, when I did, I saw a giant’s leg and foot step to a tree. I was in the sunlight, the giant was behind the tree line like the first line of trees about 30 yards from where I was. The limbs of the pine trees began about 5′ up the tree and I know that, because when I was walking down to the river they were at the same height of my head and I am 5 feet short :). The thigh, calf, ankle and foot is what I saw. It was taking the second step behind a tree and that is what I saw.
What puzzled me the most about this was that these trees are too skinny to hide such a large person. I backed up into the river slowly. My thought was if I could hide behind the large boulders, it would lose sight of me as I made it back to my boyfriend via the river. It stayed with me for some time, until I was about halfway back to where my boyfriend was fishing.
I could hear it to my left just inside the tree line every once in a while. At some points because of the water hitting the rock and boulders I could not hear it, but after I cleared the boulders and the river was more calm and I could hear the steps.
Any way, I don’t remember seeing any hair, and had a very strong feeling, whatever it was, was male. I went back to the ranger’s home and asked him if there was anyone living up river or anyone else that could be camping up there and he assured me there was no one besides him and his family and they were not up there.
So I guess my question is are there giants in west Texas and what are your thoughts? Do you have information on these types of sightings? I would really appreciate any information you may have or any input as to what the heck I saw.
I should probably mention, my father taught me and my brothers all about the outdoors and have spent much time in the wilderness in Colorado working in the mining industry. I have seen bears, cougar, elk, deer, etc. I am not afraid of the wilderness. I camp often alone, but armed. And no, I did not have any drugs or alcohol in my system at the time.
Hope you and your family are well and happy!”

This would be an interesting person to have on the show if possible Wes. So they saw the leg up to the thigh but do not remember any hair. Fasinating encounter, whatever it was.

I am curious if the skin tone was flesh colored, dark tan, or had that grayish cast to it?

Her boyfriend better watch out, a big fish may bite his “worm” off while fishing naked.

(New Jersey) “I had a very strong feeling, whatever it was, was male.” Interesting. If not for her very strong feeling, she could have been witnessing the first documented female Bigfoot that shaves her legs.
