Thermal Video From Ohio

Bill Welsh writes “I Recorded this last night in Columbia County Ohio. The property owner has seen this guy many times. He tells me it is a 4’ tall juvenile. Very active night with lots of vocalizations.”

This is why I bought the Seek Compact Pro rather than the Flir. The resolution on the Seek unit is much better. Once you get a fix with thermal, then you can follow up with illumination, if it’s at night, and optics to get pictures, video and audio. You can also see how the trees obstruct the thermal. Which is why clearings are helpful for security purposes. To make it more difficult for a potential threat to hide. Especially if they’re vehicle accessible. Which provides additional security.

So far in my experience other than the yelling or screaming, there hasn’t been any hostility. No throwing things or anything like that. I’d prefer to manage interaction from my side of the equation to avoid it. And to quell it if it does become an issue. So that it isn’t recurring.

That’s amazing. I had a week pro but, it fell apart in my pocket the first time I used it. It’s seems like cool tech at a reasonable price. If it were a little more rugged I’d buy another. They should also come with a roll Charmin if you’re going to take it squatching!
There is a legendary thermal camera out there that was developed by Hughes Aircraft in the 60s. Today’s I/R cameras differentiate to 10 th of a degree. The Hughs camera differentiates to 100th of a degree. You could see foot prints 10 minutes after something stood for a few seconds. They incorporated a pencil sized gas chamber that had to be recharged periodically with Argon gas. It worked great at distances too. They cost about $20,000 15 yrs ago.?

There will be more coming from this location. Have a tripod now to stabilize things. This is just a short clip the original is over 12 mins long. The person that lives here see them frequently
