There Is A Monkey Outside

A listener writes “My encounter happened in the late 70s, maybe early 80s. I was at my grandparents farm in Tokio Texas, south west of the City of West, and north west of the City of Waco. (Bigger City for reference)

While at the farm my mother and grandparents were in the house talking and I was playing in the garage. While playing I would look out the garage to the gravel drive way that came around a large tree. I was hopping my Poppy would come over. He was my great grandfather who always had candy and a dollar bill for us kids. I still remember to this day that I was playing with a blue metal toy Ford tractor. Making tractor noises and other noises that little boys make when playing alone. I was sitting on the floor while playing.

Well I decided to look up again, and in the yard where the gravel driveway meets the grass sat a, what my young head could only process as a monkey. I looked at it, and it looked at me. We were as best as I can remember approx 15-20 yards from one another. It was sqatted down with its arms on its knees watching me. It never vocalized or did anything aggressive. It had a curious look to it’s face and seemed to be entertained by watching me. I remember it to be a reddish brown color. I jumped up and walked into the house and told my mother that there was a monkey outside. She ran outside only to walk back in and tell me nothing was there. We never spoke about it again as far as I can remember.

My father and my mother were divorced at this time. My father is a believer and always told me and my sister when we would visit his house that there was a Bigfoot that he called Frank living in the woods behind his house. He told us that Frank would come see us if we didn’t behave. I never told my father what I had seen and I guess I never related the two.”
