In 2000, residents of Sabine reported seeing a gray, ape-like creature in the area’s dense forests. The local newspaper dubbed the creature the “Sabine Thing”.
A similar beast called the “Caddo Critter” is said to have inhabited the bottoms around scenic Caddo Lake in the 1970’s. The Sulphur River along the Texas-Arkansas border has been a source of similar sightings for decades.

Todd Partain was on several podcasts some years ago talking about his experiences around Caddo Lake as a child. Really interesting stories!

Why can’t we take the woods back? Apparently we drove them off with less fire power, at an earlier time.

I live near the Sabine in Gary, Texas, though I have yet to see anything I’ve definitely heard very strange and unknown sounds around my house, I’ve heard and seen mountain lions, coyotes, etc. and also own a wolf hybrid who howls nightly and have never seen him more afraid than when whatever it is makes itself known and vocalizes. I would love to see something but being in the woods all of my life there are a ton of animal’s that can easily kill or severely injure you including gators but I’m no afraid of them as much as I am of whatever huge creature that roams the thicket where I live. If anyone is from my area I would love to hear if you’ve heard the same things!
