The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I froze

A listener sent me this encounter. The encounter looks like it took place in Osage County, Oklahoma.

“Our friend lives out by Skiatook lake. There was a cove about 2 miles from his house straight through the woods.  We all were being guys one night and got brave and decided to go down to the lake with nothing but one pen sized flash light. We all walked down toward the lake laughing and goofing off the whole way.

You could hear crickets and birds and owls and all sorts of the animals, after about a mile and a half I suddenly got really scared for no reason.  My hair on the back of my neck stood up and I froze. I couldn’t shake it and so I turned to tell the other guys something was wrong and they at the same time turned to me and where all freaking out and felt the same way.

When we froze and started looking around we notice a few yards in front of us there was this weird tee pee stick structure thing made by twisting trees together and boulders all around it. That’s when everything in the woods went quite. Eerily quite. Not a sound. I could literally hear my heart beating in my ears I was so freaked out. We all then panicked and realized we were lost. Luckily the friends neighbor had coon dogs so he suggested it and we whistled really loud and could hear just them way way off  in the distance.  We then got in a straight line with me in the very back in the dark since I was the oldest guy there as I felt responsible and the front guy with the light. We were going to follow the sound of the dogs to lead us out of the woods.

What scared us next even worse is we could hear something taking a step every time we did. It would stop when we did or take a extra step. I could hear what I thought was two people following us trying to parallel us. One on the side and one right behind me I swear I could sense how close it was.   When we hit the opening out of the woods we all together ran for it went in the house and didn’t talk about it anymore and never went back out there.  We never told anyone because we were afraid they would think we were crazy. At the time I thought it was people but the more I thought about it I believe it was a two Sasquatch’s.

Thank your for your time”

I can understand being a little freaked. A couple years ago, I lived in Montana, just East of Glacier National Park. I went to visit Many Glaciers area, and decided to take a hike. I wasn’t planning on hiking, nor very far. So I had nothing, no bear spray, not even a stick. I followed a trail, a well used trail, and got into a very thick clump of trees and brush. It was thick enough, you could barely see into it. I began to hear something. It seemed as if it was following me. I realized I had nothing for protection, and got a bit creeped out. I turned around and headed back.
I am not sure if it was anything, could have been just a small animal rustling around, but I swear it was following me. I think it was more the knowledge of how defenseless I truly was if I met a bear or lion. It wasn’t that far from the parking area, perhaps a mile or two. But I was certainly a little creeped out by the experience. So I can certainly understand how it would feel at night.

Took the family to Sulphur Oklahoma and scouted out the Chickasaw National wildlife area. Not near enough east for where I really want to go, but it was a family outing.
Only sasquatch I saw was a fitness center called “SquatchFit”… Boy, was it fit… got a pic and all… rather a two dimensional fellow, however. Also noticed a business named caveman something… just saw it driving by and didn’t catch the full name. Find it heartening that pop culture up there seems to point that its in the area at least.

Now I know its only going to be about a 6 hour drive to get to the right area, I am going to try to be up there more often.

I googled what animals will escort people out of their territory, like BF. Note the similarities: the titan triggerfish (“it will attempt to escort divers away, but has been known to knock divers unconscious and inflict bits with its strong teeth”); jaguars (“Although thought of as ‘man-eaters’, jaguars are more likely to escort intruders off their territory, and many people tell tales of men being followed through the forest by a shadowy jaguar. Amazon Indians claim that jaguars sometimes emerge from the forest to play with children.”); coyote (If you’re followed by a coyote, don’t panic. It’s likely escorting or “shadowing” you through its territory, keeping a calm eye on you to ensure you don’t bother its den.”)

I live only 35.7 miles east of Skiatook Lake!!! That’s creepy and I totally believe you!!! I live only 4 miles west of Oologah Lake in Talala and I’ve seen/heard/felt what I believe to be bigfoot. Some of my friends are coming forward with their stories of strange things on the lake. My sister recently as last week told me that several of her co-workers saw or had friends who saw bigfoot out at Spencer Creek, Oologah Lake. I wish more people from my area would come forth with their stories. I’d love to hear them.
