The Genoskwa & Joshua Leflore

YouTuber Dee writes “The Gothic Librarian and Tex DGBF join us for a chapter that resonates to any and all LeFlore County residents and Oklahomans in general. The large and primal descriptions of the Genoskwa seperate it from the other hominoids. It is believed that Captain Joshua LeFlore met his end at the hands of one of these creatures. ”

Well, they got the information on the Genoskwa right, but failed to make the connection to the Wendigo, a creature with the same description, but occupying areas further north. As much as I hate to say it, the Leflore incident is not an accurate account, but a fabrication created by a modern story writer. It was not a tradition of the Choctaw, but the Kiowa, it happened in western Oklahoma, no modern weapons or white men were involved, it happened BEFORE there were any whites there. The creatures were stealing WOMEN from the purity huts on the edge of the village. Sometimes they came back, sometimes not. Sometimes the ones who returned disappeared again, along with their new born, after giving birth. The Kiowa did not raid them, but essentially declared what we today would call “total war”, and did their level best to exterminate them or drive them out of their territory, and this was the case according to the story. So the Kiowa killed/kicked the Nasty Bigfoot out of the area. There is no attached story or mention of them having been “Stone Coats” of which I am aware. They may have been a troop of regular Bigfoot with a foul disposition and ill intent. Considering the stories about Genoskwa/Wendigo, they would NOT have been interested in mating with humans, and none of the women would have returned, they would have been eaten, so I doubt any Genoskwa connection to this particular tall tale.
