The creature walked out

A listener writes “Hey Wes, Just noticed your website and wanted to mention a sighting we had back in 1998.

We were on our way out of fishing at a lodge on the Babine River BC in mid November that year. We we were only 30-40 minutes down the logging road in a in a full size pickup truck. We were pulling a trailer with a jet boat but the tire on the trailer had a low tire so the driver was glancing into the rear view mirror and never saw what we saw.

Up the road about 200 yards the creature walked out of the trees taking several steps out onto the road and is nearly steps away from the making it into the woods onto the other side of the road. At this point it must have heard the truck, it takes a look at us and turns around and ran back across the road where it had come from. It ran with lightning speed and was very tall with reddish brown colored hair. It was then gone in a flash. My wife and I said at the same time – what is that? I thought it was s person walking out of the woods to thumb a ride until it kept walking to where it was almost across the road and I knew it didn’t know we were even approaching it.

It was when it turned and ran that we both said that and by the time the driver looked up it was gone. The wind must have been just right for it to not notice us? It was a windy, sleeting kind of a day. We tried to get him to slow down or stop but he refused to thinking we may had seen a grizzly bear and he was stressed about making it the 80 miles to the paved road with his low trailer tire.

We really wish we could have at least stopped to check tracks. We both assume it was a Sasquatch. It was maybe 6-7′ tall with a cone shaped head and reddish tan colored hair. It’s shape was slender waist and broad shoulders. It’s interesting how it ran back where it came from instead of running two more steps into the woods on he other side of the road where it was going, this behavior seems very animal instinctive. The other is how fast it ran, it was much faster then a normal human could run.

We would say our sighting last 10 to 12 seconds. We are bummed the driver didn’t see it. He was a older gentleman and was more concerned about his tire then what was in front of him.

This has remained a partnered story we only say to a few friends. We were both teased by our fishing friends when we got to our hotel in Smithers including the fishing lodge owner.”

Wow very cool, I’m always looking the ditches and the sides of the roadway for moose and caribou as we live here in Alaska. I have never seen a Sasquatch or tracks left behind but I have heard stories that they are heart or have been hear in the past I believe my best opportunity to see them will be from a vehicle or from the boat still looking!

Thanks for the story! It seems weird that the driver didn’t have a spare tire for the trailer. I was with a buddy out in the woods, and he got a flat. While he was putting on the spare I could hear air leaking out of another, so we had to hurry up. We made it to a tavern, and someone gave him a ride to get it fixed. Damn stock tires were junk on the Toyota 4x4s back then!
