A listener from a rural area in central Illinois writes “We live on what used to be my grandparents land. We are about 20 miles north of Springfield. My sighting took place just about a mile from my house while driving on a back road next to the river bottoms. I was with my wife and when we turned a corner to go down a big hill there it was crossing the road about 60 or 70 yards in front of us. It was huge I only seen it from the belly up as it was descending down the hill at an angle. I punched it and was at the crest of the hill in 3 or 4 seconds and it was gone. There was barbed wire fences on both side of the road so it must have jumped it and disappeared out of sight. My neighbors to our South claimed to have seen it twice and has been paced in the woods while hunting mushrooms. My daughter has seen something one night also as she came home late one night. 7.5 feet tall and red eye shine. Never imagined seeing one in Illinois”

For years Stan Cortney was the go to person in Central Illinois on Bigfoot encounters and did a pretty good job. t I have not heard much from him the last few years and hope he is OK. This just shows how adaptable the Sasquatch really is, in that you do not need huge forests for them to live. Give them enough cover and creeks and rivers and they will survive with a lot of farmland to raid at night.
