(New Jersey) Wes, it’s great that you brought attention to this incredible event!! In fact, Discovery Channel has produced two amazing shows, one looking back at Hubble’s achievements. The other discussing the James Webb Telescope, and the simply mind boggling things it hopes to achieve in space! The whole project is so complex, it’s tough to comprehend or explain. However, one goal stands above the rest. In layman’s terms it’s explained that the Universe is like a Time Machine. For example, the Sun is 93 million miles away from Earth. Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second. Therefore, we always see the Sun as it was 8.3 minutes ago! The Hubble Space Telescope allows astronomers and scientists to look back 13 Billion Years ago!! With the power and technology of The James Webb Space Telescope, we hope to look back even further in time, to the very beginnings of the Universe, the Big Bang.
