The Appalachian Giant

The Appalachian Mountains are a region of incredible beauty and amazing legends. One such legend tells of a terrifying giant with a 7-clawed hand who left his mark on a massive rock.

Part of my history/heritage. I can’t believe they’ve never covered the stone or preserved it.
There are many things the Cherokee believe…. like the Nun’ne’hi or “People Who Live Anywhere” a race of Spirit people who lived in great townhouses in the side of mountains, especially on the balds. Many other races like Yûñwï Tsunsdi’, or “Little People”, Atsil’-dihye’gï, “The Fire-carrier”, De’tsätä. De’tsätä “once human, was a boy who became invisible, Tsäwa’sï and Tsäga’sï, mischievous fairies who may sometimes help hunters”, Yûñwï Amai’yïnë’hï the “Water Dwellers”. And of course the Moon Eyed People with dim eyes (some Cherokee say blue eyes), whose skin was white. The Cherokee drove them out. They were credited with building ancient structures, so perhaps they were the ones who carved Judaculla rock.

LaVonne this is fascinating! I’d love for Wes to talk with you about these beings. We’ve heard a lot from the Northwest First Nations people, it would be awesome to hear how they’re similar. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. I’m looking them up!

My uncle seem a little man hunting in WV. A big concrete working, fighting hillbilly scared out of his mind. I’m Cherokee and made me think of there legends of little tribes of people.
