A listener writes “Hi Wes. Recent fan of the show, probably consumed 50 episodes in the last couple of months. I live in a semi-remote area in Northern British Columbia, outside of Terrace, and have heard strange noises in the woods lately.
A couple of weeks ago, after midnight, I heard what sounded like a woman yelling incoherently, neither distressed nor happy, kind of hit neutral in the human register, but very loud. It seemed to be coming from the expansive wooded area across from my property. The next day my neighbour a few houses down said she heard it too, and the noise distressed her cat. Maybe five or seven seconds long.
Last night, I heard… very hard to describe. Again, this was just after midnight. First of all, it sounded biological, not made by any machine… but it was something like a lion’s roar, blended with the bassy tone of a fog horn, like if a gigantic fat human was able to imitate the sound of a rusty drawbridge being torn open. Something very authoritative about it… maybe that sounds strange, or maybe you’ve heard that before. I’d say it lasted three seconds. This is speculation, but it sounded like it came from a mile south of my house. I only heard it once, but something about it reminded me of the description some of your guests have made of *the* deep-voiced roar. I was wondering if you could point me to any audio recording of this sound, as all I can find online are the “chatter”, whooping sounds, high-pitched howls, etc.
There have also been periodic crashing sounds, etc coming from the woods late at night, which could be attributed to grizzlies or black bears, which are no strangers to these parts, but taken on the whole, I have suspicions.
Not looking to waste your time, I would still consider myself mostly skeptical on the question of Sasquatch, but I’m more open-minded of late. My cousin told me a story from his teenage years in Athabasca, AB that has made me question my skepticism as well.
Take care, God bless.”
