Cumberland Outdoorsman writes “In the last weekend of the Tennessee hunting season, I encountered some strange howling sounds deep in the woods. Take a listen, and see what you think it might be.”

Certainly sounds similar to recorded audio similar to the Ohio howl, and others. There are a number of reports alluding to these creatures in Eastern TN, especially in the Smokeys but also in Cumberland mountain range, and even down into Roane county and near Norris Dam State Park. A local employee of the State parks recently told me she heard very odd sounds and howls in the woods around here, so it sounds like it is possibly a sasquatch. You were wise to leave the woods when you did, especially before nightfall.

Interesting sound to say the least. I grew up in E. TN. and now live in W. NC. I’ve spent my entire life running around in those mountains and have never heard a sound as unique as that. Curious for sure. I also noticed something in the beginning of the cell phone footage, beginning around 5:33. It’s either just a downed bunch of trees in the background or a tree structure of some sort. Impossible to tell from the video of course, but it did seem to be the only downed trees clustered like that could be seen as you panned around. If you’re back out there it might be worth checking out. You never know. The howling or whatever the noise was that you captured is just as out of place as a possible tree structure would be.

That sounded like most of the other recordings I have heard and that is without doubt the bigfoot around. You know there are more than one, so you and your doggy better get home and stay there.

What OTHER animal is able to make a noise similar to that? I’ve heard coyotes, wolves, mountain lions, deer, elk, moose and believe it or not, Loons in the wild and they all are capable of making some very strange sounds. But none of these animals can make any sounds that are anywhere near that of the ‘Ohio Howl’ or this creature in this video.

The first set of sounds are barely audible and I’m listening with headphones, which usually is better for picking up sounds. The second part was better for sound. Glad you left when you did. I something that big has no issues with howling in the woods, attracting attention, you know it’s time to go. Thank you for sharing.
