Strange Beams Of Light

A listener writes “This is going back twenty or maybe twenty-three years now. I was standing on the neighbors porch at around 1 or 2am.

Me and four other people were there, we all saw the same thing. These strange beams of light seemed to shoot up from the ground, in a small patch of trees. I wouldnt call those trees a forest, as it doesnt go 200 yards in either direction. The land is flat there, so its not car lights. Besides, the lights were shooting up out of the ground in the wrong direction to be mistaken as car lights.

All that me and my friends could do was ask..what is that….As strange a that is.. it gets weirder. Suddenly im on the porch alone, by myself. Perhaps I had experienced lost time? Im not sure. But soon after I realized I was alone out side ( and no I didnt check the time, I should have ) … I got a strange feeling. Like I was being watched or observed, so I went inside. Then I realized that my friends were alseep.. and I had to walk home. Thankfully I was the next house over. But it was still a very uncomfortable 100ft to walk, but I made it home safely.

Ive never seen any beams of light that way. It was weird how they just appeared to be shooting up from the ground themselves.

Have you heard about anything like this? The lights were…white to yellowish in color. There were about six to eight of them in total, and they were spaced out about a foot or two between each other.

Ohio is a really weird place for things like this, but so far ive never seen any orbs or anything of that nature.

Thanks for reading! Have a great day, Wes.”

I am not sure if this is what the witness saw or not but here is my response:
“Send me your number, I would like to chat. When you saw beams of light would you say like a pillar of light?  I am curious….what time of year was this? Was it cold out? The lights are actually a pretty common atmospheric phenomenon called light pillars. I am not sure if this is what you saw or not.

Here is some information on Light Pillars:

Light pillars occur in freezing temperatures when flat, hexagonal ice crystals form lower in the atmosphere than they usually would.

When this happens, the crystals essentially form a collective, giant mirror, that can reflect a light source – such as city and car lights, which is what’s happening here. It looks like these pillars are beaming up to the sky. But in reality the opposite is happening – light traveling into space is being reflected back down to Earth, creating the illusion of a pillar.”

So the man in the video was explaining about light pillars as he motioned with his hand from the window to the area that was out in front of his place as being where he saw them;however, he also alluded to an area at the back of his place as being where there were just a patch of trees – I am perceiving this to mean he did not see the light pillars there. The listener who wrote in, on the other hand, said he saw the lights coming up from within a patch of trees. Just wondering if they really saw the same thing. Also, the listener said that perhaps he had experienced “missing time” and where does that fit in with the light pillars explanation?
