Matt writes “I was canoeing some of the swamps around Lettuce Lake Park and saw what I thought was a bear. I told a park ranger about it and she said that bears don’t generally get into the swamp and that there were never many sightings in general. I showed her the video and she said she didn’t know what it was. I saw the Fox13 story about the bigfoot a few weeks ago that mayor said Bob Buckhorn made a statement about and thought this might be related in some way. I never put much faith in the old skunk ape legends but when I looked closer I noticed that it had long, swinging arms and moved through very thick swamp with ease. Certainly can’t explain it myself. I didn’t get very close but I hope that this footage can be enlarged.”
Here is the original video:

(New Jersey) I believe BFRO investigated this and said it was definitely a hoax.

Thanks Glen K. That is the one. I was thinking Sybillia Irwin, but it was Renea Monteith that got the goods on the hoaxers. Renea is a dang good researcher also, many good cases on the BFRO.

I think it’s very interesting. It looks real. I don’t know much about ‘how to hoax’ this sort of thing, so I appreciate the critique.

Brave hoaxer if it were..alligators, snakes…..I have always thought it to be real, although my main question is how far away was the person filming?
Wonder what mark zaskey thinks?
jennifer g
hey Mark Zaskey, are you out there? ?
Glen K
(New Jersey) The Florida BFRO doesn’t have the final say on this or any other video. However, they seem quite certain of their findings. I just have no patience for hoaxers.
Charles R
Indeed. This was investigated by I believe Sybilla Irwin who has done some fantastic investigations over the years and is a very good artist and here Bigfoot renditions can be found on the internet. These same characters came up with with another very obvious fake just a month or two before this one. I will say this. They did a very good hoax, maybe the best I have ever seen.

I didn’t look at Tony’s breakdown but it looks like two creatures.
You’d have to be dumb to hang out in a swamp for any amount of time.

I was impressed by how detailed the investigation into the report actually went. When I saw this for the very first time, I, too, wondered at the unconcerned behavior since the BF species as a whole is reported to be very elusive and avoids humans whenever and wherever possible.

I can actually see a fish in its right hand, at least it looks like a fish when it takes off

So if i take pictures of prints and i send them to more than one website, or association, that makes me a hoaxer? Half of the reasons listed here do not prove hoax
Charles R
Please look up the write up about it by Sybilla Irwin. They fooled me also.

Was originally presented as being filmed in winter so no gators or snakes. Plus it’s an urban park in the middle of Tampa and not what you would consider big or remote. The same people that did the video had another photo hoax weeks prior.

I’m not sure if that’s a real bear or not, but I’m certain that’s not a fish in its paw, that’s actually a corn shark!
