Search Scales Back On Missing Idaho Toddler

I want to thank Kent C. for posting this update in the forums.

The continuing search for missing DeOrr Kunz, Jr. is being scaled back while the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office explores other avenues in the case. The 2-year-old boy went missing in Idaho 10 days ago while camping with his parents and grandparents.

Local 8 News reports in the latest update on the missing Idaho toddler that the sheriff’s office has decided to “redirect the investigation,” but will have crews continue their presence in the Timber Creek/Stone Reservoir area to search for possible clues that led to the boy’s disappearance on July 10. Authorities believe DeOrr may have been abducted by strangers or taken by wild animals. No real evidence has surfaced since he vanished while on a family camping trip.

Searchers have utilized all available resources in the search, including helicopters, divers, scent dogs, cadaver dogs, horses, ATVs, and sonar technology that has scoured the reservoir. Over 300 people have participated in the search for DeOrr Kunz on the ground. They used a grid and searched the reservoir, the creek, and the hillsides. None of them saw any sign of the boy. Q13 Fox reports that pink ribbons have been tied to trees and bushes in the areas that have been covered in the search. The distance between Timber Creek and Stone Reservoir is about a quarter of a mile and takes an adult about 30 minutes to walk due to the steep and rocky terrain.

KBOI 2 News reports that DeOrr Kunz, Jr.’s parents are not suspects in the case. Over the weekend, authorities asked for speculations to cease on social media concerning the boy’s parents. The two have reportedly been cooperative with authorities in the search for their son. As Inquisitr reported last, DeOrr Kunz, Sr. and Jessica Mitchell haven’t left the campsite since their little boy disappeared. Mitchell is carrying the 2-year-old’s blanket around with her and refuses to part from it.

Kunz, Sr. and Mitchell believed their son’s grandfather was watching him, but his grandfather thought that the toddler was with them. There was reportedly a four-minute window in which the child was unsupervised. Authorities were alerted soon after the parents realized that the boy disappeared at the campsite. Search parties were deployed immediately afterwards.

The Lemhi County Sheriff’s office needs the public’s help in finding missing DeOrr Kunz, Jr. They’re asking anyone with information to please call the Idaho Fusion Center at 208-846-7676, or the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office at 208-756-8980.

Any prior/current remote viewers out there? I know missing 411 suggest to go up in elevation in a search . I pray for some positive closure. This makes me even more paranoid when my grandchildren are on outings with my daughters .
My advice to them is not before a rain storm is due within a few days no berry bushes, no boulder fields and refrain from overly bright clothing, is there some high pitch whistle that emits if a plug in device is removed a person could wear and yank on to initiate?
I would want this for them, at least a air horn.

It sure will james, it will be added eventually to david paulides list of nearly a thousand missing people. Nobody wants to look at the common sense answer. there is only one thing in the woods that can make you disappear without a shred of evidence

The most disturbing aspect of the whole event is that the party responsible was obviously in close proximity to the family while they were setting up camp; …….Watching and waiting to see if that four minute “Window of Opportunity” would present itself!

It makes you wonder how many times you and your family have been within feet of sudden, predatory death, …when YOU thought you were simply enjoying a day in the country!

If it was sasquatch then its interesting that David Paulides once said in one of his interviews and i have heard it several times that as soon as anyone enters the forest that they are watching, it makes sense as they seem to have sentries like his grandfather was to look after there young and see any threats. I’m afraid i think sasquatch is a more likely solution as it could have been stalking and watching and just took the opportunity when it was there.

How tragic, and completely terrifying! A 4 min ‘window of opportunity’ was all someone or something needed. Whoever, or whatever it was, it, he, had to be watching the family closely, from very nearby, just waiting for that tiny ‘window’.
My heart aches for the family……what they must be going thru…..not knowing……but knowing it couldn’t have been good, whatever it was. How horrible……beyond words.

This is a tragic lesson for all parents to learn from ,and I hope it is posted on every campground for all to see that you don’t and can’t EVER… take your eyes off of children at any age until they are at least big enough to fight back an attack from humans or animals for that matter.

Was there other camps close by? Was it in a campground? Man it is so sad and really really weird with only a four minute window that he was unsupervised. I think if it were any other wild animal other than a squatch there would be evidence of the attack. God bless the family and I will pray for the little guy for sure.

If this little one…. say was taken by a bigfoot …Would you say hunt it down ….must be really hard to do the hunt …So hard that our government thinks its best to make people think maybe someone took the young one … But many times thats not the case …like some of us think at least they said maybe a wild something took Him….

I hope they’ve looked miles from where this child first disappeared as David’s books have indicated a lot of these victims are found far away from the point of abduction. God I pray this little boy is found alive. Keep believing.

My heart is hurting really bad for them. I am a father of 5, & I know that the hurt has to be deep. Praying deeply for the little boy and his family.

i remember when my kids were little and we used to take them huckleberry picking. I could never pay attention to the berries because my oldest kept trying to duck behind the next bush. Drove me nuts ! Don’t know how many times I had to yell “Get back Here!!!! WE stopped taking them because we couldn’t pick any berries and watch the boys at the same time. My heart goes out to these parents…..probably thought they were doing something fun for the little guy. I know from experience that a child can disappear from view in 10 feet or less in the WA. forests. I just can’t imagine the terror they felt when they realized he was gone.

It would be interesting to know from anyone who has been in that area if any BF activity has been reported,or did any othe campers hear strange things off in the distance.Because of this site my families awareness is at its fullest when in the woods but I personally don’t think you need to go deep to find signs.I live in small town surrounded by other bigger towns(30,000 plus),lots of connecting timber to cascade range. At least three times a week the coyotes go off around 1030 but seconds before in the distance I hear loud howl that doesn’t quite sound like coyoties. Its hard to differenciate due to yoties start their calling over the top of it.Point is these things are closer then one realizes so to have a blind eye makes you vurnerable. My kids aren’t much for camping anymore but neither em i.

When I was little, my Aunt would take me shopping on her day off. I would hide from her in the clothing racks.
i’m glad she didn’t take me camping.

I’m terrified of the day when my husband decides to take our son camping. He’s only 4 now, and a handful, so no time soon. But I know it will happen. I live in the Appalachian hills. People go missing all the time. Most assume drug deals gone wrong. I’m not so sure. But thanks to this site, I’m more aware and conscience where my children are when they’re playing outside. God bless this child and it’s family.
