SCEP:185 Sasquatch in Montana

Tonight we speak with Brian “Duke” Sullivan – bigfoot eyewitness and founder of the Montana Bigfoot Project. Duke talks about seeing a Sasquatch as a child when he was sledding with a friend. Duke has spent over 40 years researching this topic and has come to several conclusions regarding the “type” of creatures out there.

We will be talking about his encounter and the research that followed. Listen in as Duke shares his stories of Sasquatch encounters and strange findings in his home state of Montana.

Wes.. I have to say, that was one best interviews you’ve done… for me anyway… Hit on a lot of my thoughts about this subject… For instance,, The Hockomock Swamp monster, (which is what it was always called for many many years), never got the label of Bigfoot until a rash of sightings in that area, all looking like bigfoot in the late 70’s, including Mr Bakers sighting…. before that, the description by witnesses sometimes reported, bi-pedal and it had a head like a horse.. I clearly remember that as a kid.. and these were local stories.. My dad grew up next to swamp also, and remembers stories about The Hockomock Swamp Monster since the 40’s…. He never really heard bigfoot type until 70’s also… since he was a kid there has been many creature sightings reported in the area….. Just saying, more out there than we know…,,,,, Also i dont totally believe “anyone” is worried about the logging industry suffering by revealing that Bigfoot is real, as much as “they” worry about a entire country questioning everything they know….. Brian said it,, after his sighting, he was interested in conspiracy theories, and eventually got him into what he does,, It changed his belief system.. I have also heard this from guests on your show… That is what “they” fear .. can you imagined if half the population started to believe in the these myths and legends, and found out some of them were true..And, After the years it took “them” to get everyone looking down(thats a whole other story) Anywhohow, those r my thoughts, i tried to keep it perfectly simple… 🙂 Ciao

Kick ass show. When is Duke coming back on? He has a lot of info and some new stuff I’ve never heard. Now I gotta worry about Mountain Giants? Four toed tracks up to 36 inches? WTF! The woods just got a whole lot scarier.

  3. Debi S

Always second to none every mid week then every weeks show is nothing short of spectacular. Hey Wes and lol I finally found that episodev it wasnt ep 78 but ep 75 n that very end encounter is the best horrifyng face to face meeting you ever wanna bare witness to

  4. Mary W

Yes please ask duke back for another interview!!! It’s Truely suprising to hear present day accounts for things that were all but forgotten in the first nationa history . It’s refreshing to hear about the difference that exsisted for each individual “cryptid” group and not just all conviently lumped together. . He sure did his homework. It’s like I always tell my sons ” research makes the difference” I want to ask how he came by this knowledge. This also left me feeling vindicated and that tribal myths and legend really were sometimes true events that came to pass and not some random fantasy created by a group whose beliefs differ from the present day mainstream. Majority . I feel that Wes has Truely raised the bar this time ! Ty

Hey Wes, I contacted a guy by the name of Paul Hayes who would make a great guest for an episode. He is a researcher and investigator in Ohio. He started his own research group called “The Genosskwa Project” after he had a daylight encounter behind his home. He said being a guest on the show would be great so I gave him your email. I know you and Duke talked some about the Genoskwa so I think Paul might have some more info to add about these creatures.

when I was 6-12 I used to stay at my nan’s in the Adelaide foot hills south Aust, Australia. I used take myself off on walks pretty much most day’s for hours, in the dench bush, I would hear all types of wildlife and on many occasion freak myself out over what I heard, a branch snapping, some sound I ain’t heard before, you and your guest talked about, when your mind put’s to gether objects to make sense of what we ae viewing, we all do it, but in my hundreds of walks I knew when I saw say a roo (kangaroo) or thought I saw one, what i’m getting at is our minds do this to keep us safe, alert but when you see something real it is my guess that the mind is not playing tricks with us, this would not serve in our preservation. anyway top show

DonRay you hit the nail on the head! The reason our government is still refusing to acknowledge Sasquatch is because they don’t want the entire country to ask that next question: What else have we been intentionally misled about?

    • Duke S

No, There was no way to leave without going back out into the open, and if he got aggressive I couldn’t outrun him, and I had no gun, so I had to hope for the best and stay put, no campfire, no music, no lights. That was a LONG evening…..Duke.

      • Luke P

Hi Duke. This was a fantastic interview and a gripping episode. You mentioned several different types, including various Native names. Whereas I am familiar with some, others were new to me. Is there a blog post you have you could possibly link to, or would you be able to give a quick intro or run down here on those you mentioned during the interview?

Another Afghan fishing story. member 18 months ago. Soldier see BF across valley with thermal gear? Still no footage.
I wanna see the infamous Indian Casino Dumpster footage. Still nothing.

One of the best episodes…top 5 SQ episodes for sure. Too bad all the hard-core Christianity haters can’t at least listen to Nephilim stories w an open mind….guaranteed if the Nephilim story was a Hindu or Buddhist or Native American myth they wouldn’t say peep and praise the show for “celebrating diversity” but heaven forbid (no pun intended) we connect a story to Christian religious beliefs/myth and they lose their damn mind….hypocrites…..the point is there may be a gradational-scale of connection from Bigfoot to Dogmen to rock Giants to aliens/angels possibly one in the same….have an open mind but w/a healthy dose of rational, questioning skepticism……don’t believe it all but be open minded to possibilities as we live mostly safe in our insulated urban or suburban bubbles for as Shakespeare said , ” HORATIO
O day and night, but this is wondrous strange!
    HAMLET
And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

oh man, don’t get me started on the shakespear talk. i start rambling..
      here’s an example:
Sasquatcheth, Sasquatcheth-where for at thou, Sasquatcheth?
it gets worse when i’m on a roll

        • Michael K

Start spreading the feet, I’m squatchin’ today.
I want to find the missing link, Bigfoot, Bigfoot.
These vagabond tracks, are up and away
Right over the hill and dale, Bigfoot, Bigfoot.

I wanna wake up, In a colony of Bigfeet.
And find I’m king of the hill, not what they eat.

These BFRO twits, are yelling away.
I’m sure most animals will stay away.

If I can find Squatch there,
I’ll find him or her anywhere.
It’s up to you, Bigfoot, Bigfoot.

          Bigfoot, Bigfoot.
I want to wake up, in a TV doc u ment ary.
And Snapple is my drink, with my syndication

These sceptics so cruel, will eat all their words
I’m gonna make them cry so much,
          With a Bigfoot Body…

If I can get that pic, or I can find that scat.
          I’ll meet Dr Meldrum
It up to you Bigfoot Biiiihiig Foooooooht.

First song of the musical. =)

Great comment, Christian L. Not sure of your gender, and that’s not important, but if you’re a female, hats off to you, for standing up to the hater-bullies! O yea, I nearly forgot, the Judeo-Christian belief, is the only One that is correct “politically” to mock and ridicule! It’s the exact same idea when it comes to people cussing or using YHWH’s name in vain (as a swear word). Man for the most part, those whose names are to be blotted out, only blaspheme the true God of Heaven. They never say, “@llah $hit, or d@mn buddah, etc. No, it’s only against the True One. Imagine a day, when all will finally be revealed! Not only will the called-out-one’s, know all things, perfectly, but even the little things, like Sasquatch. Yea, Sasquatch, is a cool study, and to figure it out, all someone has to do is go back to Genesis 6, but, perhaps of greater importance is why does man seek to HIDE the truth? Suppressed in un-righteousness perhaps? Heartbreaking!

    • Jay Carlsen

Well We will see if this Comment gets sent back to Me , being Taboo to Mention. But I Beg to Differ. ( & for the Record – I do not Care what anyone Chooses to Believe. It’s a Personal Thing . I Understand. Believe in Nothing. No Matter to Me. I am an American – It was a Free Choice Thing.) After I found the Story of Esau & his Twin Brother Jacob. I read it with all it’s Descriptions of Esau , & I can see the Same being said of these Sasquatch People. Right From The Get – Go.
Before the Twins are Even Born. They Struggled within Rebekah their Mother. & She was Troubled …. So she went Before the Lord , & Asked ” Why am I Thus ?”
And the Lord said to Her “‘ 2 Nations are in your Womb , And 2 Manner of People will be Separated from your Bowels. And the 1 People will be the Stronger than the Other People ; And the Elder will serve the Younger .'” ( THIS , I feel Nails My Theory down )
The Sasquatch are More ” Stronger ” than we are . Could it be ‘ Read ‘ 2 Nations ? Us & Them ? This other Manner of People?
      Then as the tale goes on , Every single Comment of Esau could also be applied to Sasquatch . From their Mother putting Esau’s House Coat upon Jacob – So He would SMELL like Esau. Even to the FEAR , that was experienced bye Jacob Years afterward ;
When they came into their Own. When He heard of Esau’s Approach , He divides everything He Has & sends it Forward to Esau , Begging His Forgiveness. Also as People describe when they Encounter these things . The Overwhelming Sense of Fear.
Since finding this in the Book , I have viewed the Gods of the Norse & Greek as the Nephilim . They were Intelligent , Taught Man of Warfare & Weapons Making . These Nephilim or Rephieim ( How ever it is Spelled ?) where wicked . & Bound Here until the Day of Judgement. They have been Accused of Genetic Manipulation of some such in Ancient Times . Is the Dog Man the Product of this Manipulation ? or did they inject a ” Rolling ” Gene into that Species ? That every so Often It would Kick Out a Dagman ? Into a Sasquatch Family ? Who’s too Say ?
These Mountain Giants ? are they the same as the Nephilim ? Who are suppose to Return for the End Time ?

  11. Frankie P

Thank you! Absolutely great guest, and so much experience and knowledge of the different types. (More than I want to know0. He could do a weekly or monthly show with no problem, I bet. Very informative and just plain fun too! Thank you, thank you.

  12. SantiamLady

WOW!!!!! That was an AMAZING Episode, Wes!!! Thanks, Duke, for sharing all you’ve learned over the past 40 years! I especially enjoyed the different types of bipedal, hairy critters. Mountain Giants with a 36 ” print?! ???????? Sacred Cow in a sidecar!!!! Terrifying!!!! Why only 4 toes on the ground in a track? What is the 5th toe doing, or used for?
Wes, you’ve got to have Duke back on soon to talk more about the different subspecies, and where they are usually found, as well as more on which ones are most likely to eat you!

  13. michael n

Patricia, duke said that the fifth toe was for rough terrain. I’m pretty sure no matter the type if you come across an I’ll tempered squatch you have a good chance of being hurt or killed. You’ve seen people have road rage or maybe experienced it yourself, now imagine a squatch that is 20 times stronger than us being that mad. No good. Thanx wes, I heard duke talk to bear and coonbo and I love those guys but your interview is so much more focused and you bring out info that your guests don’t share on other shows. Its nice when the host asks a question then let’s the guest answer instead of talking the entire time.

  14. Jan W

Great interview with lots of interesting information. Didn’t the Boggy Creek monster leave a four-toed track? I am pretty sure Bob Garrett mentioned seeing four-toed tracks on occasion too. One more creature to worry about and a giant man-eater at that! Sheesh! Thanks for a great interview, Duke and Wes. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you will come back again, Duke.

  15. Jane M

Wes can you please post the link to the story about Marines being eaten by giant in cave w 6 fingers/toes!? Thanks! Please have Duke on again!!!! Keep him coming on again!!!!!

  16. Kay S

Wes, like you I could have listened to your opening guitars all night. Who were they, I’d love to get some of their music? I assume they weren’t the original artists. ????
That aside, great show, thanks to both you and Duke.

    • Herman R

      Hello Kay
The music was the prelude to a live performance by the Eagles of Hotel Califirnia, as Wes said, one of the greatest songs ever. Wes had to end it just as the song was about to begin. Most don’t know what the song is really about. Read my post below then go to YouTube and listen to the version that displays the lyrics. It will give the song a whole new meaning – “you can check out but you can never leave”

  17. Herman R

    Hi Will
It’s hard not to like you! I loved your opening today. I’ve been a SoCal beach dweller all of my life. I agree Hotel California is one of the best songs ever. Did you know the Eagles were not singing about vacationing in the year round mild climate of this remarkably beautiful part of the planet? The song is about Camarillo State Mental Hospital. In 1932 the state of California bought 1700 acres of a ranch in Ventura County a few miles from the coast and built a sprawling hospital campus in Spanish Revival Architecture complete with beautiful court yards and bell towers. Designed to house 7000 patients and 700 staff it truly looks like a vacation resort. Due to its proximity to LA many movie stars and musicians were guests. It closed in 1997 and is thought to be one of the most haunted locations in the US. It has since been redevoped as California State University Channel Islands. A little insight to one of the best songs ever. Interesting?

  18. Lionel M

Hey Wes! That was a great stimulating brain twister, with these thing out there makes one wonder if there is some sort of plan that’s beyond our comprehension. This and Flat Earth blow my mine. Thanks

  19. Chris B

So i’m halfway listening to this episode and find out Glenn Fry passed away today. Whether intended or not, it turned out the beginning of your show was a nice dedication. RIP Glenn

  20. Robert V

    Hello,

I want to point out this guest starts with an encounter in Northern Minnesota. Another person from this area describes the ridicule a person would receive from seeing one in the Midwest. I believe the reason there are not many reports from the Midwest is because of this. I loved this episode. I agree with both Wes and the Guest there are more things out there, there are things in this world a “reasonable explanation” will not work.

    Again good work Wes.

    Bob

  21. Jeffrey H

???????? Wow! Thanks Duke for sharing your knowledge and experiences!! Wes. Please bring Duke back a.s.a.p. so that we can continue this conversation. What an excellent episode! Duke needs to be a serious friend of SC, like Bob Garrett is. Thanks again Duke & Wes for the excellent show that I will be sure to listen to over and over! ????

  22. Erik N

Bear And coonbo, have a podcast on you tube. It’s called ” outlaw radio” Brian Sullivan aka the “duke” gives a much More in depth interview on there 2 part show and it’s over 2hrs long. It’s also free!

  23. Wes

lol…I wasn’t drinking one bit, the margarita comment was me joking around. I am fighting a cold though and have been taking a lot of dayquil.

  24. Seamus J. C

That’s amazing–but typical–that Duke had amnesia about the sledding encounter until his friend brought it up again. Another indication that these encounters can be traumatic, and lends it credibility, to me.

  25. Miss Kendall S

I have to say that this was one of my favorite shows so far along with both of the tTerror in the woods. I’m not one of those people that are rolling my eyes, I believe in heaven and hell, I believe in angels and demons and I believe everything that that man spoke about..
I believe that our planet has much more of the unknown and also in our Seas that we haven’t found yet and like you it creeps me the hell out it really does but my eyes are open and I would rather know the truth of what is out there then not knowing and not being prepared should I ever need to be..
Again this was an awesome show Wes loved it thank you and I’m on to the next one….

  26. Janet P

Hey Wes, Love your choices of music….from Moby, to LOTR, and guitar. You should change up the ending music as well. I notice its been the same song since you started. I’ve been working my way through them from #1 to this one so far.
