SC EP:470 Rest Area Sasquatch Encounter

Jackson I hope this show takes your mind off of the storm.

A listener writes “I am a long haul truck driver, two years ago I had an encounter that changed my life, almost gave me a psychotic break and has turned an alpha male supposed Billy badass into a man that is afraid of the dark and refuses to stop at rest areas.

I’ve only told my daughter and now my current partner that I drive with because I had to explain my behavior at night and my refusal to stop in rest areas. I’ve been holding this in for almost 2 years and, well I could use a debrief so to speak. Love your podcast, it’s helped me a lot as I’m equally obsessed with Bigfoot as I am terrified.”

Spoke to the witness last night and he jumped out of his truck to go pee. When he jumped back into the truck a very large creature came out from behind the dumpster and stopped and just looked at him. The witness said “I was in shock and terrified, he stood there looking at me…”

There are many more details the witness will share with us.

My skeptic brother always picks on people for not taking photos- what he doesn’t get is the fact that when you experience a potentially dangerous situation, your amygdala is activated and you are in “fight or flight” mode. Taking photos and other “higher brain’ functions are out the window… my brother doesn’t”t get that fact either.
I am a retired police officer and trust me, I totally understand !

I have 4 or 5 reports from a deserted/abandoned rest stop here in Montana. It is not kept up, but there is still room there for people to pull off the road and use it, so some do. Makes me wonder if someone now claims the area since it is deserted, or if it BECAME deserted because someone was claiming the area? Anyway, creepy spot!

Thanks Wes. I wrote you about an experience I had as a teenager while staying in a rest stop waking up with one looking at me through the front window. I was with my mom and brothers. I was told “you had a nightmare” by my mom when I woke her up. Same thing she said when one walked up to my window as a kid.
My husband and stopped at a rest stop also between California and Oregon and my husband awakened it was foggy but noticed in the distance two large creatures that scared him, he woke me up because I was laying in him lap and he took off at 100 miles an hr.
I reside in Dallas Oregon 35 minute drive from Corvallis. I had one or two go through our trash next to our home. I shared on SC but I know they are closer then people think. I appreciate the guests sharing itheir encounters it onfirms what I know.

Kelly. the scientist, didn’t strike me as someone trying to show off by using all the big words he knows. He speaking style and choice of words came across as very natural and unforced. Could it be that you have some insecurities about your education that makes you react negatively to someone who speaks well? Otherwise, making fun of people who use a lot of big, “scientific-y” words seems a bit pathetic.

The other guy you are talking about Wes was Tracy. He was driving one of those sprinter vans I believe and was peeing out the door of the van and there was one standing right next to him. He fell back in the van peeing all over himself and went for his gun. When the creature saw the gun it made a face like it recognized what he was holding. It’s eyes got really big and its lips pursed. Tracy finally managed to get back up just as a flash of lightning was happening and out the front window of the van he saw group of them in the flashing light. He was surrounded by them.
AMAZING encounter! One of my favorites and I think easily in the top three ever on the show. Tracy was very emotional and you could tell it still shook him to the core.

Start carrying a gun in that area. The rest area south of Blaine Washington had three people killed in two different instances. The last killing a child in the car said the big monkey hurt mommy. The rest stop was closed and patrolled for a while. Killed and not eaten killed for fun, heads twisted around.

  6. Kris T

    Lewis,
    The killings you mentioned?
    Got a link?

    Very curious about that.

Two years ago I read about a 1st Nations woman killed by being eaten by “dogs”…
Yeah right. That was no pack of res dogs.

Please educate yourself on local defense and firearm laws, then train, train, train on your platform of choice. I feel such sadness for people who meet their ends at the hands (and teeth) of these things.
    Fooking evil.

I say shoot it in the face, if ever you see one.

Wes I live in NC and part of my hurricane preparedness this past week was downloading some SC shows just in case power goes out!!! Which so far we are good ,just alot of wind and rain. Thank you for all you do for us ❤️?☔??

Wes, you mentioned Patty not as muscular. Remember, Bob Gimlin was just amazed at how huge she was and said he could see muscles bulging all over her. The video taken from 100 feet away or maybe more, just did not pick up all this, but it did some. It would have been nice to know how much shorter the female was. I really appreciated Kelly’s theory’s on the Sasquatch. They so closely mirror mine and I do hope some day we know exactly.

Here is one of my favorite rest stop encounters, probably because I have been to this one as it is about 30 miles from my wife’s family Upper Peninsula summer cabin.

We really will pray for the areas on the coasts being hit by the storm; Wes, thanks so much for the episodes; Truckstops do give u the creeps, especially in the early AM hours. Feel like u have to have a swivel head while nature calls. Always prepared for even weird strangers who may be up to no good. Awesome episode Wes! Has anyone read Enoch – A Bigfoot Story; Awesome Read. Autumn Williams is the author. It’s non-fiction. Check it out. & Wes, get David Martin from NC SquatchWatchers to come on if possible. Thanks.

‘A wall of fear’ ~ that’s something to pay attention to. Perhaps a built in defense mechanism? When as a child and young person, that ‘wall of fear’ presented, but I thought it was “just me”. Thankfully, that warning voice won out & I left the area, or got to safety. // Ha ha. My husband wanted to “take” me out to find Bigfoot, of which I said, no you won’t! I don’t want to see one. I don’t need to see on. I’m fine just being out in the woods, without getting freaked out or seeing these hidden monsters. And, if one comes into our camp and I know it (hear it, see it, see its shadow), as soon as we could, we’d get in the truck and leave.

  11. Kris T

To piggyback on the thoughts of ancient fears…
    Yes.
I think Homo sapiens has been preyed upon by this race for a long time. This people has been using our species for chattel, sexual predation and food for so long that when we meet, some inborn alarm overrides all else.
    Fight.
    Flight.
    Freeze (default rabbit syndrome).

Train, train, train. Then train some more.

Both guests, hats off and thank you sincerely for having the courage to speak up.

I really enjoyed this episode!! My dad is a trk driver and he has mentioned many strange accounts! I also admire Kelly, the scientist. I totally agree with him in that science doesn’t have to be either/or. Why can’t evolution have been God’s plan all along, leaving us with many things yet to discover? I would like to ask a question about our diet though…ok, as human culture progresses, things are made to be faster, easier, more convenient, resulting in fast foods, preservatives, etc. However, if you get a man that’s been plowing the back 40 his whole life and would eat only home grown foods, he would be healthy and very muscular. Do you think that’s how a sasquatch gets so muscular? All they eat are natural, organic foods. Tree structures…they aren’t renting a bobcat, they’re moving it themselves. Idk, that’s my 2 cents. Love your show Wes!!

When I heard the comment about the Patty looking like the “drunk sister in law who always wears sweat pants and yells at here kids”, I have to admit I lol’d into my morning coffee. Priceless!

Nice. I like how professional people are starting to come forward with their sightings more than ever. There is a general stigma attached to such things and professionals tend to worry about their reputations. However, what the last guest said rung a bell, he KNOWS they exist. There is a difference between believing and knowing, and once you have experienced something personally it is no longer just a concept, but a physical reality.

  15. Kris T

    Sisu, gents.

Fantastic information and much respect for coming forward, more of us keep emerging from the system of “professional” level work.

It’s worth it to share and possibly assist this work. All else is rather shallow by comparison.

  16. Chris I

Wes, please don’t take this one down!!! This is the first one I’ve heard close to me here in Eastern Oregon. I live near Baker. I sure would like to hear some of the others from around here.?❤️

  17. Blanche D

I think sassy displayed disgust toward trucker because of the smell of the engine exhaust and the noise from the truck. Just a thought. Very scary encounter when they are so close. Again we hear of that primal fear and dread from the second guest, which is so fascinating to listen to. Many thanks for sharing your encounters and thoughts.
