Tonight I had plans on posting a replay of this show I did a few weeks back because I was originally going to be out of town looking for the miners cabin in Ape Canyon . This show is open to everyone. Last night I posted a show #164 for members. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
A farmer (now deceased) who lived on Elkins Creek in Georgia called the police to report disturbances on his rural homestead. For several weeks, something had been frequenting his property. Strange noises were heard and eventually livestock and pet dogs went missing. Whatever it was would bang on the outside of his trailer in the dead of night.
Eventually, the man had his barn door ripped off its hinges when something was apparently trying to raid his corncrib. He called the authorities once again to report the vandalism. A deputy named James P. Akin was dispatched to look into the matter. Deputy Akin suspected local moonshiners were trying to discourage the man from living at the property.
The farmer told Deputy Akin that he knew what was doing the damage, and showed the officer five huge footprints along the banks of Elkins Creek. Though all five prints were clear, four of them were totally submerged in the water of the creek. One, however, was in the fine silt next to the water’s edge and was still in excellent condition.
Tonight I speak with the now retired Deputy Jim Akin who will give us some real insight on what was going on the witness’ property. Jim shares a lot of strange and creepy behavior the creature was doing on and around the farmer’s property. At the time, Deputy Akin did not believe in Sasquatch and felt that if there was a 1% chance it was real, it was in the Pacific NW. He found it hard to believe that a creature like this may be alive and well in Pike County, Georgia…

I’m a little jealous that you guys are goin to Ape Canyon when the weather clears up. I hope you guys get some good stuff

I was at St Helens hiking a few weeks ago, I guess I never realized the miners cabin story was from there, I would have paid more attention.
Love this episode by the way.

Alright Sunday night drill: Sasquatch Chronicles theme begins the countdown and the family scrambles for blankets, snacks and then gathers around to hear the show. I know it’s been said before but this is what it must have been like in the days of early radio shows. Thanks Wes for giving us another reason to enjoy family time!!

That’s awesome! I wish I could get my family to listen with me, or share any interest at all for that matter. At least my youngest daughter enjoys camping with me, that right there is worth its weight in gold. But, of course I don’t take her to the places that I really want to check out, where I suspect there may be some action. Camping with her is a blast none the less, although we don’t go as often now, since many encounters seem to come from our area in Texas. As curious as I am, I couldn’t live with myself if anything were to happen to her, and it’s not worth the risk!
Thanks for another wonderful show Wes! You rock brother! The last time you were supposed to come to Conroe, I had that week marked on my calendar. Perhaps we can enjoy some interesting moments together sometime, when you get a chance to come back out here. Rock on!
Chris, searching in Texas

Great show! Thanks, Jim and Wes. Jim summed up the importance of SC very nicely. The show fills a void that was desperately needed in the world of BF. Anyway, great to hear Jim again!

This is a really great episode. Glad to hear it again. What a great and sincere officer, I’m sure they deeply regret him moving on to other pursuits because he really was there to protect and serve.

Great show Wes! Did anyone else get to watch the history channels “BIGFOOT” caught? They are still trying so hard to make light of this subject.

Wonderful!

Here’s the only thing that I really wonder about with this encounter. Here you have an emaciated sasquatch tearing off barn doors to get the dog food, he runs out of that, he eats the dogs, then he proceeds to terrorize this old couple and their little dog. Is there some unwritten law that a Sasquatch can’t rip off house doors to get at the people inside? I mean, they obviously have the strength. Why don’t they? Is it fear that they’ll be shot? Surely a Sasquatch would consider that a frail old man and his wife wouldn’t give that much of a fight, it could overpower them easily. I’m also wondering why it didn’t make a quick meal out of officer Akin. Do they recognize police? Or is it because they carry guns? It seems as though sasquatch have some rules about them. It’s weird, like, they can scream in the face of a hunter, flank hikers and campers, intimidate them to the point of leaving in a big ole hurry but they don’t cross that line. Why? You’d think if they were hungry, they wouldn’t bother toying with you, you’d just be dinner. They’re creepy as hell. Like they enjoy terrorizing people. I remember reading that one of the native tribes said something about coexisting with these creatures, the tribe had the day and sasquatch had the night. If you cross them at night, does that make you fair game? I got alot of questions. I’m thinking it’s mostly the rogue male sasquatch going around acting like dicks. Like a thug gang of sasquatch. I have no problem with people shooting those jag offs. In fact, I think it should be open season on said jag off squatch. Oh well, there’s my two cents. Take it for what it’s worth.

Well its only Wes and the police guys assumption that its was gonna eat the old man if it got the chance. Maybe it was just after the little dog inside. Or maybe its just playing around. Even monkeys are known for this and i think we all suspect a sasquatch to be slightly smarter then a chimp for obvious reasons.
The knocking on the house is very interesting. Many animals knocks on rotten tree trunks and listen for movements inside for whatever prey the are hunting. While doing that, the stop and listen and can predict where the prey is inside and then digg it out.
So i believe the sasquatch is knocking to get a reaction of the situation inside and can then confirm how many is inside and where the are.
Thats why it was able to follow them around from room to room.
There was another story on here with a hunter in a tree stand who saw a sasquatch listening to a tree and then break it apart and kill some kind of rodent it got from inside the tree. So im positive the use this tecniqe for multiple purposes.
Also im walking alot outside during the night and if i walk down a hole with one foot, u get that nasty riplash up your spine.
But if u been your legs like a sasquatch is walking, then u can walk on bumpy terrain without this problem.
I have tried it and it works perfect. So it totally makes sense the walk like this.
1. The are most active at night where uneven ground casn be har to tell.
2. The often live in rocky or uneven terrain.
Both things makes this kind of gate perfect ajusted for this.
So imho this is also a tell tell that these creatures exists. Cus who would make fake stuff up that actually makes so much sense??

Shazam! So that’s where the intro song is from. I never saw Tron Legacy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqgYE5IqXfs

A very very exciting interview by a fully believable peace officer. I agree with Joyce in a wayy too. Why wouldn’t the squatch just break into the house and take the old man & woman? But truthfully i listen to lots of Youtube about Bigfoots & never heard of. Squatch breaking into a house & killing people in the house. Have you Wes heard of this particular thing happening? It’s now clear to me that we are sll fair game to them.
Donald S
I have one question. How many dogs did he have? Why would he have 10 large sacks of dog food? Couple of dogs and one being small? Did anyone else catch that?
Travis E
Old ppl store extra rations, they learned that from passed experience. Fyi

Nothing like a straight shooter

I suspect the reason the Sasquatch chose the barn over the house is because what was in the barn is a way easier meal.
These things can’t be stupid to how dangerous we can be. We carry around boomsticks that hurt really bad so it best to avoid us.
I think when Bigfoot attacks, or seems aggressive, is because you’re in its territory, any other time they’re just on the hunt for the easiest meal and would rather avoid us.

PEANUT!

I like this episode. Why can’t I download it though? No download button

I think if he wanted the man to eat or whatever? He could of got him at anytime, the man was out in day and so are the bigfoot. I have had my own run ins with Bigfoot and I almost pissed myself with fear. But they didn’t hurt me and they could of if wanted to. I think there are one type of them that will harm you,but for the most part they don’t. Like people most are good but some will harm. The ones by me are the good ones problem is you never know if the bad one roll up and push them out then your faced with something that will harm you. That’s my take on this one thanks.

Very scary situation for that old couple

This is one of my favorite episodes. This is my 3rd or 4th time listening to it….

You know another thing I think about the “missing 411” story was the fact that really bad weather was coming after the missing person. I think these creatures can sense the weather moving in and don’t want to starve and get an easy meal. That’s terrifying to me!
John L
is this the guy in the intro?
