On Thursday night’s show I talk to two witnesses. The first witness is Holly who had a very close encounter with a Sasquatch. She describes the creature “rolling its lips back and a look of disgust on its face as she accidentally stumbled on it” the second witness is a researcher. The witness has always had an interest in Sasquatch and spent his free time taking reports and going out to areas where recent sightings had been reported. He says “I have always believed people were seeing something and the evidence proved there was something out there, I just was not prepared to deal with what I saw. I was 20 feet from this thing and it was staring at me. I will describe to you what I saw, I do not know if I want to do this anymore, I am not sure I want to go into the woods anymore…..They are real! People are not lying!”

I want to go out with some researchers and see for myself. I live north of Houston in spring Texas. Anyone doing research In Sam Houston state park? I am a member of this website since the beginning of the paid membership. Love to go out with some mature researchers since I’m in my 50’s.

I think if you “gifted” a Flir to BG, he might consider it. In college if I crashed a party I would always take a case of beer, instant cool guy.

Bob Garret’s group; that’s his neck of the woods…

Growing up in the south and being in the woods a lot … You hear things that do not make any sense and you let it go… Until I started to listen to SC … Hearing the people talk of what happen to them .. their voice tells me everything .. Some times you can not un-see what has been seen… But that is me .. Best of luck to anybody that comes across one..
JOHN E
hey Richard I know how you feel I want to go myself…

Cool man!

I haven’t seen these creatures-sasquatch or dogman.
I don’t know what is more frightening to witness?
Personally, I’m glad I haven’t witness these things.

Sandra, Just some FYI for you, Check out Sybilla Irwin, she does a lot of drawings and artist rendering from eyewitness accounts, it’s interesting to see what the eyewitness was actually looking at. She is very good, hope you like it.
SANDRA E
Thanks Wes! I just love the artwork that you post with the stories. I know I’ve asked before but didn’t get a response…..who is this artist….he/she does beautiful work!!
Mary W
I agree! The art is even unsettling! Has anyone listened to bigfoot crossroads with Bear and Coonbo? The screensaver of the peeking squatchers makes me want it ( something they show during the podcast) but I’m sure you all know about the podcast I’m ussually the last to figure things out . If u haven’t I strongly recommend it. Funny and informative .

Good deal Tracy !!

I too am in the Houston area and I have a BS degree in Zoology. I have been trying to get one of the groups to just talk to me and maybe get to go along with them in their field work. I can’t get anyone to even EMAIL me back. I have emailed every one of these groups that purports to have sightings and goes out to do field work. I have also posted messages on their Facebook pages, if they had one. NONE have responded. I’m not holding my breath that any of them will.
I thought that these groups would love to have extra hands or eyes to go out and help them. I see now that is definitely NOT the case. They seem to act as though there is a giant, buried treasure out there in the woods and they have a piece of the map and are not going to let any “outsider” in on their group for fear of them stealing their treasure.
I am NOT wasting any more time trying to contact any of these groups. When it cools down a bit I am going to get my Hunting license and head into Sam Houston looking for wild hogs with my bow and a pistol on my hip. On the way if I see something, I don’t know what I’ll do. I’ll give it a try though. If nothing happens then I’ll have a nice walk in the woods.
I wish the Sassy groups were more inviting and open to new people, but they aren’t. Just the way it is. Maybe you all will have better luck than I did. I hope you do.

Larry, You have the credentials. If I may, I am sure there are many that share your desire. There is tons of info avail. and you are trained and can separate the BS from the useful. If you have not…have a listen to Bear n Coonbo/Bob Garrett and his gang. All have had their own Podcasts or have been guests on SC. Also all the past episodes here. To a trained mind like yours. The useful info. would be easy to pluck. Start your own group…even the above mentioned researchers say there ere no experts. Just an aside…I think ground sensors could be very useful and may be able to provide weight/distance/direction/bipedalism. Give an early warning to approach. Flirs are expensive and the woods are dense and you have to be there to operate. Game cams may be seen or stolen. Sensors are autonomous and can be hidden/ record/send info. Just my 2 cents.

I think you’re right. They want to keep it in the family so to speak.

Larry,
I remember when Matt M screened my wife and I back in 1997… 5 minutes into the conversation and it was all about what could we PHYSICALLY SUPPLY in equipment to the group…. Was very disappointed that we were not willing to buy night vision or FLIR and allow them to use it…
Most groups get a LOT of requests, and each request needs to be weighed before its pursued further… Take BG’s group for instance, the have a few “honey holes” that seem to produce, but they do not want them overrun or ruined by amateurs, or more likely, idiots and con artists out to discredit them, even other BF researchers.
In defence of smaller, well coordinated groups keeping locations secret, its a safety factor. Last thing anyone needs are unskilled or untested people in your area with firearms and bad judgement. ESPECIALLY if you are not coordinating with them, and that’s what happens when locations get leaked. ANY PERSON I DON’T PERSONALLY KNOW WHO HAS FIREARMS IN MY RESEARCH AREA IS AN IDIOT AND DANGER!!! A site needs to be protected for that very reason.
Having new members is much the same. They must be vetted (which takes time and finances just to travel and meet) and an investment of several months to get to know before you start revealing things. Above all, you must know they can keep their mouths shut and that they can stay reasonably calm in a dangerous situation. This includes time in field and, I would prefer, time at a shooting range. Just because dummies can own guns means that they are reliable and skilled with their appropriate use. And all of this is before they ever get shown real research or areas of interest.
I live in Abilene, Texas, which is anywhere from 4-8 hours away from any regions I think have interest or potential. I ALSO WOULD WELCOME THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET BACK INTO ACTIVE FIELD WORK. However, I think it would be difficult to hook up with any of these groups simply because of my distance and their need for reliable and close by members to form their cores.
If you consider these facts, perhaps it is easier to understand their behavior about prospective members.

Just stay out of the woods at night if you are alone.
Susan P
Hi Larry, all of what Tracy said for sure! As I read your post I was thinking of all the people who want to go out with Bob Garrett and his mighty men, heck I have even thought of trying. I never would though, way to afraid. I am assuming that they are over whelmed with requests. Keep trying, or find a friend but please don’t go alone.
Steven J
I second Susan’s comments. There is nothing wrong with starting your own group, especially if you have access to a potential area of research. Just do it smart, and always operate in groups of two. Make sure everyone is familiar and works well with each other, and have established procedures for any situations you might encounter. Those procedures will change with experience and equipment, but keeping a good line of communication with each other is paramount. And absolutely do not allow egos to get involved… that will do nothing but harm any effort you put forth. Sasquatch research will make fools out of anyone many times, so just keep a big piece of humble pie in your pocket to eat as a primary meal, and you will be fine.
You will need to decide right up front if you are a kill or no kill group. You will also need to decide how you will interact with the public and other groups. You will need to have a firearms policy, which covers their use, carry, and care by all members (do you allow them or not, for example?). You will need a financial policy… is it pay as you go, dues driven, or donation? What governs the use of equipment? Is it available to the whole group or only to the actual owners?
Squatching sounds fun and sexy, but the reality is far from that. Also, a lot of it happens while not in the woods. This is why the best small groups are generally a large circle of friends. If not, you end up like the BFRO, which isn’t bad per se, but you get shows like “Finding Bigfoot”.
