Sautee Howls Vocalization

Northeast Georgia Legends writes “Sautee Nacoochee, GA. White County, GA. BFRO’s number 1 county in the state of Georgia for recent sightings.

Right outside the Chattahoochee National Forest and a number of state parks, the Sautee-Nacoochee Valley is a hotbed for winter sightings in the state of Georgia. Sautee is directly North of the small, tourist town of Helen, GA, nestled in the Appalachian foothills in Northeast Georgia and featured on the very first episode of Finding Bigfoot.

These howls are an eerie resemblance to the infamous Ohio Howl recorded in 1994. Howls were recorded on Tascam DR-05 placed overnight on a mountain slope next to my property (which borders the great Chattahoochee National Forest).”

      Yep. LOL.

Amplify that by five, add a few more distinct voices, and bring it in by no more than 25 yards, with voices carrying over the swamp, and you will have what I heard as a little kid. I have never forgotten it.

I’m very familiar with this area. I’ve hiked and camped all over the county where this occurred for the last 5 years. It’s in White County, would love to know specifically where in White County. The AT, side trails, forest area, near tourist attraction Helen or near a residence.

I’ve got family living all through the mountains in North Georgia. Whenever we visited when I was younger, I never understood why we had to stay in the yard to play or why we couldn’t go off the porch after dusk. Whenever we would hike or go fishing the guys were always well armed and we had to stay on the trail in front of them. My cousins said it was because of the “boogey-man”. We thought they were joking and just trying to scare us girls. Now, I understand.
