    Michigander here..

Over the Memorial Day holiday, specifically in that Saturday eventing, I decided to drive into the Manistee Natl Forest. I was visiting family just outside of Lundington, MI. Anyways, about 8:30 P.M. me my mom and my aunt, all got into my truck and drove 20 min down the road. I chose a spot randomly while looking at my iPhone earlier in the day, dropped a pin, and drove there. It was down a two-track next to the Crystal Mountain Ski Loop. Long story short, after driving until a downed log blocked our way, I turned my truck around and rolled the windows down and turned it off. We sat quietly for about 10 min, i then decided to go into my arm test to get a digital camera out when my aunt and mom BOTH, SIMULTANEOUSLY looked at each other and said did you hear that?! I didn’t, being preoccupied with getting the camera. Both claimed to have heard 3 quite deep, “woof wolf woofs”, both vehemently stated it wasn’t a typical dog bark “woof”, much MUCH deeper, with incredibly deep bass tones to it. We were not close to any house, trails, people etc..it was basically a two track for the people who worked the ski resort. This was my 1st ever strange encounter. I need to also mention that I DID notice, as well as them, that the forest became 90% quieter after parking my car and listening. My very skeptical aunt even noted how incredibly strange it was for the forest to “go to sleep”.

    Thanks for reading, SC rules

Glad Nickolas P that you may have got some activity. I have skied Crystal Mountain back in the 70s a couple of times, the mountain (large hill) that is. Also fished a lot of salmon out of Ludington in the late 60s, they further north in Onekema in the 70s and 80s. Wish back then I would have known about the Michigan Bigfoots and the active area of the Manistee National Forest. However back then no one I knew about ever talked about Bigfoots. Best of luck on next adventure.
