In 1889, before he became President of The United States, Roosevelt’s book, The Wilderness Hunter, was published. In his book, Roosevelt tells the story of a trapper by the name of Bauman who had a very close encounter with a Sasquatch. In The Wilderness Hunter, Roosevelt never actually referred to the creature as “Bigfoot” – that term wouldn’t be used until the 1950’s. He did, however, refer to whatever it was as a Goblin.

Always a fantastic story, and well written. Teddy was a great woodsman. I believe the Bauman story, because it’s very real.
