Pope Lick Legend Draws Trespassers To Dangerous Trestle

Legends have brought people to the trestle at Pope Lick Creek for decades, but after several deaths, people are asking for change from Norfolk Southern Railway.

Dogman Narratives writes “The Pope Lick Monster is said to be seen around the trestle bridge on the Norfolk Southern Railway which passes over the Pope Lick Creek in Louisville, Kentucky. This monster part goat part man. Otherwise known as the goatman.

It is said to have horns and either uses hypnosis or some sort of siren voice to lure people onto the train tracks and keep them in a dazed state where they are then run down by passing train. In other stories, the goat-man drops down onto passing cars from within the trestles. There have been a few news stories of people getting hit by oncoming trains near the Pope Lick Creek. The legend of the Pope Lick Monster has lead to quite a few deaths in pursuit of hiding this goatman creature.”

I have received several reports of this thing over the years even by forest rangers. I was never sure what to make of it. I have had several eyewitnesses say it disappears or fades to nothing as they watch it walk off but appears to be very physical when they first see it. It leaves tracks and some eyewitnesses have reported watching it eat. Sightings are rare but they do happen. Seems like some weird entity presenting itself.
