Paul Freeman On Good Morning America

Paul Freeman is featured in this Good Morning America segment. Paul Freeman was an American Bigfoot hunter who claimed to have discovered Bigfoot tracks showing dermal ridges. The plaster casts Freeman subsequently made were convincing enough to be considered critical pieces of evidence by anthropologists Jeff Meldrum of Idaho State University and Grover Krantz of Washington State University, who put considerable time and resources into studying them.

I met Wes Summerlin when I did conservation work in Walla Walla between 1995 and 1997… he was a nice guy and got exciting when I overheard him and some other fellows discussing Paul Freeman’s sighting and the fact that a television show was coming to interview him, while my car was being repaired at a gas station.

I asked, “You boys talking about the Hairy guy?” They claimed up as I was an out of towner just moving to the area and they didn’t trust outsiders. “That’s okay,” I replied as I bought a cold bottle of soda pop. “I usually don’t tell people about my sighting either… people think you’re crazy.” And then I casually turned with a shrug of my shoulders and walked out the door to enjoy the weather.

The got all excited and rushed out the door to follow me, screaming, “You saw one too?!”

“Not here,” I told them. “Near Mt. Rainier… from about 10 feet away…”

Long story short, I was invited to Wes and Peewee home and he shared many stories with me… I was even invited to meet with them at the Blue Mountain Mall in the food court when they met weekly… Wes even ambushed me by bringing a news paper reporter to get my story (Vance Orchards from the Waitsburg Times, who wrote Bigfoot in the Blues)… but that’s the tale for another time. 😉

(New Jersey) Mark T, first let me say you are ONE LUCKY MAN!! It’s amazing just to have met and discussed Bigfoot with these men. On top of that, you had your own sighting? As they say, some people have all the luck. The only question I have, did you ever meet Paul Freeman himself ? That would be the icing on the cake. Also, you had such a Close encounter with Bigfoot, perhaps you would share it with Wes, and the members of SC.? I for one would love to hear it.

I’ve always considered Freeman’s footage as completely valid and photographic proof. In some respects, I rank it as better than the PG footage – but this is based on personal impressions of the hominin being filmed. God knows, none of us are experts so take that with a grain of salt. Freeman has my respect as a pioneer going public with what he has encountered.

I concur with Glen, that is pretty dang neat Mark T, what a chance experience. I agree with you Devon C. To me the Freeman tape looks like a huge barrel chested male that is walking on very uneven terrain with no head bob. I only wish he had had a better recording camera, move like what Roger Patterson had.

(New Jersey) Well that makes three of us ,Devon and Charles. Apparently Paul Freeman captured several Bigfoots in his historic video. But the large male (?) was something to behold! .After taking several steps, he shot Freeman a look hat shook him up pretty good. You could hear the terror in his voice. Paul Freeman was a big man, but there he was-alone with nothing but his camera- face to face with King Kong. Wow! Paul Freeman was a true pioneer. I find it so very sad that he is not with us now. I think I once saw his son (or grandson) do an intrview. I wish we could hear more from him about Paul and his experiences. How about an appearance on SC ?

Nice words about Paul, Glen. He indeed was brave, as was Roger Patterson, to approach the Sasquatch in order to try a get better film. But both men spent years and countless hours in the wilderness on a quest to get film of one, and were prepared when the opportunity presented itself.
