YouTuber Bob Gymlan writes “his video is my attempt to harken back to this channel’s roots. It covers four entities from semi-ancient North American lore: Bik’is, Baw’is, Bukwus, and Kushtaka.

The Tsimshian “monkey mask” has been largely dismissed, even by bigfoot and sasquatch advocates, however, I assert that the skeptic’s argument is about as clear as mud. As the mask’s retriever said himself, it is a “mythical being mask. Representing a mythical being found in the woods…”

I also cover the terminology used to define these alleged cryptids, as well as some rather unsettling and frightening implications of the legends behind the monsters.

About a year ago, famous youtuber TREY the Explainer absolutely roasted one of my older videos, and this video is my rebuttal. To be blunt, I think his arguments falter. I know, I know, drama, controversy, all that…”

A listener writes “Hey Wes, I’ve had a series of strange experiences over a few months in southern Ohio. There’s too much detail to fully cover everything in an email, but I can give you a general timeline and I’m happy to answer any questions.

There are two main locations where these encounters happened, and I’ve had multiple experiences at each. The first was in the woods behind my school. One night, four of us went for a walk. Everything felt normal for about an hour, but then we started hearing light footsteps in the leaves behind us. It felt like we were being subtly pushed in a certain direction whether intentionally or not, it guided where we went.

We ended up on a ridge, still hearing movement around us. The footsteps sounded bipedal, and at one point a tree nearby was pushed over. We eventually made it out without anything happening to us.

A few days later, I went back with two other friends. We headed off trail to an area we call Kill Run. About ten feet in, we started hearing noises again twigs snapping, and at one point what sounded like a larger branch breaking. There was also a very distinct smell that appeared around the same time. We decided to leave before anything escalated.

On the way out, I felt an intense sense of dread. I’m usually comfortable in those woods, but this time I had to stop every 50 feet or so. At one point, I turned to my left and saw something tall, skinny, and pale crouching down.

The second location is the Moonville Tunnel, a well known haunted spot with a trail. We’ve been there several times. One of the first times, we stopped and stood quietly when we heard what sounded like someone hitting a tree as hard as they could with a thick stick. We left immediately.

On another visit, we saw eyes watching us multiple times. That was the only night I genuinely felt in danger. Later that same night, we saw three separate sets of eyes, and we ended up pointing several guns in their direction.

On a later trip, nothing too intense happened, but I did see what looked like a shoulder moving parallel to us.

That’s the general overview. Like I mentioned, I’m happy to provide more details or answer any questions, feel free to reach out by email or phone.

Thanks.”

Yes this is true, and it’s actually one of the coolest geology facts about Mount Everest.

The wind was already howling when the climbers stepped onto the upper slopes of Mount Everest. At that height, everything felt impossible breathing, walking, even thinking clearly. The world was nothing but ice, rock, and sky.

Jake, one of the climbers, paused to steady himself. His boot scraped against a patch of exposed rock jutting through the snow. That wasn’t unusual Everest is full of broken stone but something about this piece caught his eye. It looked… patterned.

He crouched down, brushing away frost with his gloved hand. At first, he thought it was just a strange ripple in the rock. But as more ice flaked away, the shape became clearer: a curved, ridged imprint. Almost like…

“No way,” he muttered into his oxygen mask.

His teammate Maya trudged over. “What is it? We don’t have time to..”

She stopped mid-sentence.

There, etched into the gray limestone, was the unmistakable spiral of a shell.

Up here. Near the top of the world.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The wind roared around them, but the discovery made everything feel strangely quiet.

“A seashell?” Maya finally said, her voice half disbelief, half awe. “That’s impossible.”

Jake shook his head slowly. “Not impossible. Just… old.”

He remembered something from a documentary something about mountains rising, oceans vanishing. This wasn’t just a rock. It was a fossil. The remains of a creature that had once lived in a warm, shallow sea.

Right where they were standing.

Long before ice and altitude and climbing gear, this place had been underwater. Tiny marine animals had lived and died, their shells settling into soft sediment. Over time, layer upon layer buried them, turning them into stone.

Then the Earth itself had shifted.

When the land that is now India slammed into Asia, the seafloor didn’t disappear it crumpled and rose, slowly but relentlessly, pushing those ancient ocean beds higher and higher until they became the Himalayas.

And now, here they were two climbers gasping for air standing on what had once been the bottom of an ocean.

Maya reached out and gently traced the fossil with her glove. “So this… was alive,” she said. “In the sea.”

“Yeah,” Jake replied. “And somehow it ended up closer to the stars than the ocean ever was.”

They didn’t take the rock. It felt wrong to carry it away. Instead, they left it where it had rested for ages—frozen into the roof of the world, a quiet reminder that even the tallest mountain on Earth had once been beneath the waves.

As they continued their climb, the wind picked up again, erasing their footprints almost instantly.

But the thought stayed with them:

At the top of the world, they had found the ocean.

Climbers and geologists have reported marine fossils, including shell-like organisms, high on Everest even near 8,000 meters (26,000+ ft). These fossils aren’t modern seashells lying around they’re ancient, fossilized remains of sea creatures such as:

  • brachiopods (shell-like animals)
  • trilobites
  • crinoids

Because Everest used to be under the ocean.

Shawna joins us to share a sighting she and a friend had as they traveled from Galion to Bucyrus in the early 1990’s. Their encounter took place on a rural highway just across from an old, abandoned amusement park property called Seccaium Park.

They told themselves for years it was just a bear, but they knew better. To date, almost a dozen eyewitnesses have come forward to share their sightings around this small Ohio town.”

A listener writes “Long time listener of your podcast. A buddy of mine caught this last night on his trail cam. Turn up your volume and listen at the end.

It was recorded in North Central Minnesota. It could just be a bobcat, but it sounds different to me. What are your thoughts?

I believe Bigfoot is definitely a possibility. I believe I saw the orbs one night after I shot a deer. I don’t know what else it could have been and I’m baffled by what I saw. I thought it was a headlamp coming through the woods, but no one was attached to it. Very interesting experience.

Anyway, let me know what you think.”

A listener writes “Hey Wes, I was wondering if you’ve heard of any sightings reported near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada recently. About two weeks ago, my girlfriend and I were driving down a forest trail and experienced something we still can’t explain.

We passed a walking trail that led deeper into the woods and thought we saw something, so we stopped to take a closer look. Standing in the middle of the trail was a large, dark figure. It was hard to tell exactly how tall it was, but I’d estimate somewhere between 6’5” and 7’5”. We couldn’t make out any clear facial features, and I had this strong, uneasy feeling that something wasn’t right.

We stayed there for a few minutes watching it, and it didn’t move at all. Eventually, we decided to leave. On our way back, I checked to see if it was still there but it was gone. The feeling of being watched stuck with me until we were completely out of the area.

Have you heard of anything like this happening around here? And if so, are these kinds of encounters known to be dangerous? Honestly, it shook me up pretty bad, and I’ve been nervous about going back into the woods since.

Sorry for the long message I just wanted to share what happened and see if you’ve come across anything similar.”

The Confessionals writes “The world is preparing for alien disclosure, but what if the truth behind it is far older and far more spiritual than anyone realizes?

Tony sits down with ‪@TheLamarzulli‬ to examine the accelerating push toward alien disclosure and why he believes the narrative being prepared for the public could become the greatest deception in history. As governments and scientists increasingly suggest that we are not alone, Marzulli argues the phenomenon may not be extraterrestrial but interdimensional, tied to fallen spiritual intelligences operating beyond our realm.

The conversation then turns to a remarkable discovery at the Roswell debris field, where Marzulli’s team recovered a strange metallic fragment while filming a documentary. Testing revealed an unusual aluminum-magnesium alloy that does not match known compositions. If authentic, LA suggests the artifact could represent technology originating from the “second heaven,” the spiritual realm where fallen beings are believed to operate.

A listener writes “Hi Wes, Love the show, I listen all the time. A few years ago I was on a hunting trip near Woodville, Texas with my three boys, my father-in-law, and my brother-in-law. We had two blinds set up a good distance from each other. My brother-in-law had trail cameras out and had been seeing plenty of deer, which is why we chose that spot. Strangely though, for the first two days we didn’t see so much as a squirrel. The woods were completely dead, except for a few crows we saw one afternoon.

One morning I had my youngest son with me. He was probably 8 or 9 at the time. We had been sitting there for hours without seeing or hearing anything when suddenly some coyotes started yipping off in the distance—maybe about half a mile away. You know how loud they can be.

After about 10–15 seconds of that, the most blood-curdling scream I’ve ever heard ripped through the woods from the same direction. It honestly sounded like a woman screaming, but there’s no way a person could be that loud. It’s hard to say exactly how long it lasted, but it had to be at least 7–10 seconds, maybe longer. The sound completely filled the forest. When it stopped, the coyotes went dead silent and didn’t make another sound.

My son and I just looked at each other. I didn’t want to scare him, so I played it off and didn’t really say anything about it.

When I got home, I started researching what it could have been. Some people say there are panthers in East Texas that scream like a woman, but after listening to recordings it didn’t sound anything like what we heard. The scream we heard lasted much longer and sounded far more human. I’ve also heard foxes make screaming noises, but again it was nothing like that. Whatever we heard sounded like a monster.

This might not be related, but the last morning of the trip my brother-in-law and I decided to sit on the ground in some bushes instead of the blinds since we hadn’t been seeing anything. We were there from before sunrise until mid-morning when suddenly we heard a large animal take off from right behind us. We never heard it approach just the heavy thump of it hitting the ground as it ran off, crashing through the woods. It didn’t sound like the “train through the trees” people describe with Sasquatch, so maybe it was just a deer that had snuck up on us. But after hearing that scream the day before, it definitely creeped me out.

Anyway, thanks again for what you do.”

The disappearance of William Neil McCasland often called Gen. Neil McCasland is a recent and still unsolved missing-person case that has drawn attention because of his connection to advanced aerospace research and the UFO/UAP debate.

Key facts about the disappearance

McCasland, 68, is a retired U.S. Air Force major general and former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory. He was last seen on February 27, 2026, near his home in Albuquerque. Authorities issued a Silver Alert because he reportedly has unspecified medical issues.

He reportedly left home on foot without his phone, and investigators have not confirmed any sightings since. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement are involved in the search. Investigators even asked hundreds of nearby homeowners for security camera footage to help reconstruct his movements.

Why the case is getting so much attention

McCasland is notable because of his career:

Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (major U.S. military research hub). Oversaw advanced aerospace and space-related programs. Had connections to the UFO disclosure movement through people associated with Tom DeLonge and related initiatives.

Because of those connections, some commentators claim the disappearance could have national-security implications, although this is speculative.

Deep in the mountains of northern Montana lies one of the most pristine wilderness areas in North America: Glacier National Park. Known for its towering peaks, glacial lakes, and dense forests, the park is home to hundreds of animal species.

But according to a persistent wilderness mystery, there was a time when large numbers of animals appeared to suddenly leave parts of the park, creating an eerie silence that both visitors and park workers noticed.

Was it a natural phenomenon or something stranger?

More than 170 years ago, stories of a strange creature roaming the forests of Arkansas terrified local residents. Long before the modern legend of Bigfoot took hold, newspapers were already reporting encounters with what they called the “Arkansas Wild Man.”

The First Reports

One of the earliest known accounts appeared in 1846, when a newspaper reported the discovery of a massive footprint in eastern Arkansas. According to the report, the track measured 22 inches long, far larger than any normal human footprint. The discovery immediately sparked rumors that something unusual was living in the region’s forests and swamps.

Hunters Encounter the Creature

In 1851, the newspaper Vermont Watchman and State Journal published a dramatic account from Greene County.

Two hunters claimed they saw a strange figure chasing a herd of cattle. They described it as something that looked unmistakably human yet clearly wild.

According to their report, the creature was:

  • Gigantic in stature

  • Covered in hair

  • Wearing long locks of hair that hung over its shoulders and neck

The hunters said the figure paused briefly to stare at them before sprinting into nearby woods. What shocked them most was its speed, it reportedly leaped between 12 and 14 feet in a single stride.

The article also noted that sightings of this mysterious Wild Man had been reported in St. Francis County, Greene County, and Poinsett County as far back as 1834.

A Survivor of a Great Disaster?

Many residents had their own theory about the creature’s identity. Some believed the Wild Man was not a monster at all, but a human who had gone feral after surviving the devastating New Madrid earthquakes.

These earthquakes were among the most powerful in North American history, shaking the Mississippi Valley and dramatically reshaping the landscape. According to local legend, one survivor may have fled into the wilderness and lived there so long that he became completely wild.

The story became so widely believed that two prominent men from Memphis organized a search party to try to capture the mysterious figure. What happened during that expedition, however, was never recorded.

A Violent Encounter in 1856

The legend resurfaced in 1856 when the Ashland Union reported another sighting near the Sunflower Prairie.

During the winter, several men spotted the Wild Man and pursued him with hunting dogs. The creature attempted to escape across the frozen surface of Brant Lake, but the ice proved too thin, forcing him back toward the shore.

One of the hunters who arrived first described the figure as:

  • Around 6 feet 4 inches tall

  • Extremely muscular

  • Covered in brownish hair

Although the hunter had a clear shot, he chose to capture the Wild Man instead of shooting him.

It was a decision he would regret.

According to the newspaper account, the creature suddenly lunged at him, dragging him from his horse and attacking with terrifying force. The man was badly injured his eye gouged and his shoulder bitten.

Then, in a bizarre twist, the Wild Man reportedly mounted the horse himself, guiding it away using a piece of sapling as a makeshift rein before disappearing toward the mountains.

The Mississippi Wild Man

About twelve years later, reports of a similar creature emerged farther south in Mississippi.

The newspaper Cambria Freeman described an encounter near Vicksburg, where hunters tracking an unknown animal discovered a strange footprint in the mud.

The track looked human but with one disturbing detail.

One set of toes appeared to be turned backward.

When their dogs finally cornered the creature, the hunters described seeing a frightening figure:

  • About the height of an average man

  • Far more muscular

  • Long hair hanging from its head down to its knees

  • A body covered in dark brown hair

  • And most disturbingly two long tusks protruding from its upper jaw

When the dogs attacked, the creature reportedly grabbed one of them and impaled it on its tusks, killing it instantly.

The hunters fired several shots, and the creature fled toward the Mississippi River. It jumped into the water and remained submerged for several minutes.

Then it suddenly resurfaced.

Witnesses said it released ear-piercing shrieks unlike any sound they had ever heard not like wolves, panthers, or alligators that were common to the region.

After surfacing and diving several times, the creature finally swam across the river toward Louisiana, disappearing into the wilderness.

Monster or Misunderstood Mystery?

Unlike earlier Arkansas stories, people in Mississippi did not assume the creature was a feral human. Instead, many believed it might be an unknown species living in the remote wilderness.

Newspapers even suggested that the rugged terrain around Franklin County with its steep hills, ravines, and dense vine-choked swamps along the Homochitto River could easily hide large undiscovered animals.

An Early Bigfoot Legend?

Today, many researchers see the Arkansas and Mississippi Wild Man stories as early examples of American “Bigfoot-type” legends mysterious hairy humanoids reported long before the modern term Bigfoot was coined.

Whether these sightings were exaggerations, misidentified animals, or glimpses of something truly unknown remains a mystery.

But one thing is certain, long before the modern Bigfoot craze, the forests and swamps of the American South already had their own terrifying legend the Wild Man.

A Teacher in the Wilds of Canada

In the early 1900s, John W. Burns worked as a schoolteacher in the rugged frontier town of Agassiz, nestled in the Fraser Valley near the towering forests of British Columbia.

Burns wasn’t a cryptozoologist or explorer. He was simply a curious listener.

While living there, he became acquainted with members of the Sts’ailes (then often called the Chehalis). Around campfires and in everyday conversations, Burns repeatedly heard stories of a strange creature that lived deep in the mountains.

The locals called it “Sasq’ets” a word from their language describing a wild, hairy giant of the forest.

That word would later evolve into something famous: Sasquatch.

Stories of the “Wild Man”

Burns collected several accounts from Indigenous witnesses who claimed to have encountered the creature.

One particularly dramatic story involved a woman gathering berries who suddenly noticed a massive figure nearby. According to the account, the creature stood upright like a human but was covered in dark hair. It reportedly watched her silently before disappearing back into the forest.

Other stories described similar traits:

  • Standing 7 to 8 feet tall

  • Covered in thick hair

  • Walking upright like a person

  • Emitting a strong odor

  • Living in remote mountain areas

To the communities sharing these stories, the creature wasn’t just folklore. It was considered a real but elusive inhabitant of the wilderness.

Bringing Sasquatch to the World

In 1929, Burns published an article titled “Introducing B.C.’s Hairy Giants” in the magazine Maclean’s.

In the article, he summarized the accounts he had gathered and introduced the word Sasquatch to English readers for the first time.

Rather than claiming he had seen the creature himself, Burns presented the stories as testimony from Indigenous witnesses. His tone was curious and respectful, though many readers at the time treated the story as entertainment.

Still, something important had happened: the legend had left the forest and entered the public imagination.

From Sasquatch to Bigfoot

Decades later, in 1958, large mysterious footprints were discovered at a logging site in Humboldt County.

A local newspaper published the story, and the creature responsible was nicknamed “Bigfoot.”

That single headline transformed the legend. Soon, sightings spread across North America, and the creature became a global mystery.

The modern Bigfoot legend is now built from several threads:

  • Indigenous stories about Sasquatch

  • Early documentation by people like John W. Burns

  • Footprint discoveries and modern sightings

Did Burns Believe?

Interestingly, Burns himself remained cautious.

He admitted he had never personally seen a Sasquatch. But after hearing so many consistent stories from different witnesses, he believed something unusual might be living in the wilderness.

Whether that “something” was an undiscovered primate, a misidentified animal, or simply a powerful cultural legend remained an open question.

The Legacy of J.W. Burns

Today, Bigfoot is everywhere from documentaries to podcasts to movies. But many people don’t realize the modern story traces back to a schoolteacher patiently listening to stories in a small Canadian community.

Without John W. Burns writing down those accounts nearly a century ago, the word Sasquatch might never have become part of global folklore.

Sometimes legends begin not with a discovery but with someone willing to listen.
