The person who sent the anonymous letter claiming responsibility says he was liquored up and trying to pull a prank.

Let’s stop and think about all this for a moment….
The origional incident happened Christmas day if I recall correctly.
Whoever wrote that anonymous letter wants us to believe that he got drunk as hell Christmas morning and then decided he wauld go out in the snow wearing bigfoot cut-outs strapped to his feet so he could prank someone.

The experienced tracker who followed the prints said they went on for miles and that they had a 4 foot stride between footsteps.
No person has that kind of stride and nobodys going to walk that far in the deep snow drunk as hell to pull a prank in the middle of the day on Christmas.

The entire anonymous letter explaination is ludicrous and should only serve as proof to anyone not convinced in a government cover-up of these creatures.

How true Michael. Please tell me this character had nothing better to do than stomp around at 2:00 in the morning in freezing weather!! Besides, No way he would do so for 7 miles!!

How can people with common sense, never mind a “news reporter “, not realize a drunk idiot in deep snow with basically flippers on, isn’t going to replicate a biped with legs nearly the size of the idiots whole body. If prints were large enough to be out of human scale then must be a grown booger not a wee monster, so either they have the stride and depth or they don’t. You don’t have to be a tracker or hunter to narrow that down. I guess the way people are so quick to accept any reason to dispute a witness with out any regard for them pisses me off a bit!

What I’m waiting for, is the day they discover a hoaxer, wedged up in a tree, uninjured, except for the two fake BF feet shoved up his bum!
Oh, I don’t think the letter is factual either.

If it was the government that sent the letter, you would think they would do a better job… without in consistencies. I think the letter is the only faux evidence. If it was a prank why say anything… that’s the point of a hoax after all.

Wow, this is a tough crowd! I am THRILLED to see common sense prevailing in this group, it makes me glad to be a part of it! Hoaxers story sounds like pure crap to me too.

These could be part of the tactic to reassure, by dismissing as a prank when ridiculing someone blatantly won’t work?. This drunk person, I wonder who he might work for?.

Good thinking on the hoax theory from previous posters !
I have lived in ND for 50 years and it is not exactly considered Bigfoot central . Well , think again . Remember the terminally I’ll confession of the 30.06 hired by the govt sharp shooter from the helicopter episode where he mentioned the feed tree cereal boxes and the behavior of the Bigfoot as they ” harvested ” them for study out of ” the Dakotas ” – presumably SD Black Hills / Bad lands area . I do not think he was making that up .
Remember the fellow whose family resided on the Canadian ND border and his family peacefully coexisted with them since they first immigrated here . I do not think he was making that up .
I’ve been all over ND hunting my whole life since the early seventies . We used to hunt grouse on the ND / SD border by Selfridge and Solen . Plumb out in the middle of the sticks . The Bar for years was named The Bigfoot Bar . It has since closed . We’d go in there after hunting for some grub . Forget if it was in Solen or Selfridge? There was a large mural of a Bigfoot on a wall in the bar . On it said that legend has it that Native Americans had often come across very large man like footprints along the shorelines of the Missouri River bottom . Hence the name .
There is alleged to be petroglyphs depicting Bigfoot in a cave on an island in Lake Sakajawea . My sister canoed to the island and witnessed this .
ND does have a history with Bigfoot .

    We’d have a body by now .
Yeah you would if you excersized .
When’s the last time you seen a marten ? or found the body of one ?
    I don’t believe in martens .

Saw a Marten twice in my life: once squatting peeing (yeah, I’m a girl) in the forest on Admiralty Island, AK…it walked right by me and looked at me since I wasn’t moving and I was bunched up. An earlier sighting was me setting up camp in the Grouse Ridge/Lakes Basin area in the high sierras; I had left a 1 pound block of cheddar sitting on a cobble that lined a fire ring while putting up my tent. It had grabbed it; I saw him and yelled at him to let go and get the f_ _k outta there, he dropped it and darn if he didn’t turn back! pick it up again like a kitten, and trotted off and I finally stopped yelling at him and just laughed as he trotted up a bedrock incline out of sight with his head down and the unopened block of cheese hanging in his mouth. I’ve seen a Fisher once in Atlin, British Columbia near Atlin Lake.
I’ve seen two Mtn Lions in my life. Plenty of Brownie and Black Bear, all while out there in the bush. I’ve seen Musk Ox in the wild outside of Nome and Kotzebue, and Wood Bison on the ALCAN.

I’ve seen a juvenile BF with a witness, and seen one track when I was about 12 with my dad.

My point is…its just the luck of the draw: you can be out there in the bush all your life and not see anything, or you do…
or you can be a novice and know nothing and see everything or nothing.

You can’t base any of these rationals on experience or none. They show up or you show up: there are no rules.

I believe the letter to be a hoax. I believe the trapper: he isn’t easily fooled especially when he defended later that he said it
went on for miles. A real drunk man is not going to keep up a 4 foot stride without signs of stretching and lunging to do it (if he could even do that to begin with and walk a straight line, which BF DO do), without the tracker being able to see signs of that evidence…DUHH…..you think??
