A listener from Kentucky writes “Wes, I’ve been listening to your show and others since I had an encounter on 11/2/17. I never really believed in these things until that day and knew absolutely nothing about them.
I had a very odd encounter with these things screaming and howling at me from a ridge while I was hunting. It started with some very odd vocalizations that sounded like a language that I have since learned with research is the Samurai and a mixture of other things while it sounded like it was thrashing in the leaves. One of them was beating on a tree with something very large. It actually sounded like it was beating on a tree with another large tree. The whole episode lasted a good 5 minutes.
It was about a hundred yards away and was directed toward me. It was the loudest, crazyest **** I’ve ever heard in my life. I never saw anything that day, but it didn’t stop after that. I heard a single howl coming from the same ridge while hunting about a week later. A few weeks later I was black powder hunting and I felt like I was being hunted by two of them. I was slipping through the woods after getting out of a deer stand and could barely hear something following me. It would move when I moved and stop when I stopped. I could hear very soft tree knocking on both sides of me. It actually sounded like two of them were communicating to one another because the knocks would change patterns.
Sort of like Morse code or something but slower. I had the woods go silent on a few occasions and would get a very bad feeling. The first encounter I had the woods went quiet like that also. I went back a couple times after hunting season went out but nothing unusual until this last May. I felt like I was being watched the whole time I was there. When I was leaving that day I saw one looking out at me as I was pulling away in my truck after closing the gate. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and when I turned to look it jerked back into the woodline very fast. All I saw was its head and it moved so fast I only saw it for a second at the most. I haven’t gone back since but I’m planning to go back in the next couple of weeks. I would really like to speak to you about this, you seem to have quite a lot of information on the subject. You seem to be truthful and sincere. I’ve listened to too many of these guys that just seem to be full of **** to me. Quite frankly my world has been turned upside down. I can’t get my mind off it, I can’t make myself get offline and away from it. It’s consumed me. I’m not afraid but I’m worried.
My 8 year old granddaughter told me last week that she can’t wait until she is old enough to go hunting with me. I would have been thrilled to have heard her say this if this had never happened to me but instead a chill went up my back. I’ve planned to take her one day since the day she was born. She’s already quite the little fisherman and loves to go and is pretty good at it for her age. This family farm is the only decent place I have to hunt although the animals have been unusually scarce recently. It’s been in the family since the 1800’s and I just can’t turn my back on it. This land hasn’t been logged in over a hundred years, you just don’t see that anymore. Anyway, I would love to bend your ear if you can find the time.”

I would love to hear this gentleman’s experiences and thoughts on the subject. Since the farm has been in the family so long I wonder if other family members before him had encounters but were reluctant to talk about them. Did anyone give up hunting without an explanation? Does he believe all the logging and development that is happening everywhere now is pushing them onto the rare areas that are not being logged or developed or does he think they were there the whole time his family has been there? Anyway my thanks to him for sharing his experiences and to Wes for bringing them to us!

His concerns are legit. Being worried about taking granddaughter out there without knowing if it’s safe. I have same concerns with taking my grandkids. Iv been hunting all my life and have never encountered one, but as a youth, it was always on my mind making me almost scared to go hunting. Prayers to ya man! God Bless

Same worries for me, now that I am a “knower.” (And a person doesn’t have to have an encounter to KNOW that these cryptids are absolutely positively out there!) We have 2 young granddaughters that my X-son-in-law continually takes out to the woods with him hunting….makes me sick with worry. Thank God for the power and comfort of prayer.

Very chilling encounters. I hope he will be a guest on the show. Makes my hair stand up and reminds me of the time something was stomping through the leaves past our campsite one night in the Red River Gorge(KY), OFF trail, with NO light, in an area where people die almost every year falling down cliffs and ravines.
