A listener writes “Hey Wes, I just wanted to share an email with you. I’m an EMT from Virginia. I worked with dad as my regular partner for nearly 6 years. We have always been interested in the Paranormal, Bigfoot, and other cryptids. Years ago now, right at the very early stages of your show, he randomly found your Podcast. We spent a lot of time on the road, because our truck was designated for long distance transports, it was nothing to put 1000 miles on the truck over the course of three shifts, and spent countless hours on the road. So we listened to Sasquatch Chronicles any chance we could get. The show has always been very relaxing, and your voice was something steady in a very unsteady time.
The meat of the story being, that in 2005 my dad was diagnosed with male breast cancer. He had chemo, radiation, surgery, and got through it. He did more in his life after cancer than before it. It inspired him to go back to college, get his degree, become a Paramedic, and then get his Bachelor’s as well. In 2018 though our lives would change again. He had a shoulder injury and had an Xray, and his cancer had returned. Over the next few days it was discovered that he had multiple areas, in his Lungs, Liver, and Chest Wall, as well as in his bones in numerous areas of his body. The man was tougher than a two dollar steak though. He continued to work with me for another year and a half after his rediagnosis, even when undergoing chemotherapy with Stage 4 cancer, until he was just physically unable to keep working in the grueling environment that is EMS. Right up until the end though, it was our favorite, to catch a long distance transport that would have us on the road for a few hours, and listen to the show. It was the ultimate stress relief, and despite the stresses from not only the job, but everything else in life at the time.
In Mid may, his health suddenly deteriorated, and he passed away on June 14th. Right up until a week before he passed, we were still listening to your show. It meant a lot to us then, and now means even more to me with memories I have associated with it now. I just wanted to say thank you, even though I haven’t had a “sighting”, and only “oddities” happen to me in the woods, I’m sure that I’m not the only one that listens not only for fascination, but now, for nostalgia as well.”

Wow, my heart goes out to the listener. His dad (I’m assuming a guy) sounds like a true hero and a brave soul. I know what it’s like being in the EMT family. My husband was a firefighter for the city of Suffolk for 10 years. He was also National Guard and was sent to Baghdad. These people are amazing and are a tight knit family. They care about others more than themselves and sacrifice a lot. I hope this family can find peace, knowing the sacrifice their dad gave to serve others. May he Rest In Peace ??♥️????

If all fathers were like yours we would have a better world. My sympathies. Nothing can replace your loss.

Well I certainly didn’t mean to take away from the listeners message to Wes. Chris is right tho, we need more people in our families and communities like this listeners dad. When we lose these heroes, the whole community hurts and mourns. This also shows how much Wes helps people with his show and kind words. He’s another hero we all need! Thanks Richard and thank you Wes. The members here are a lot like the EMT family.

The bonds that bind us all together are made of threads of common loves: family, time spent with one another, working, living and dying while in the presence and hearts of those we love. You earned honor with the loyalty and honoring you gave to your father. I am a retired 39 year veteran of law enforcement who understands what you mean in shared interest that gives peace.

What a tribute to you show Wes. Don’t ever doubt that people really do appreciate you show, while you may never know how many are really listening. I always have said that you are therapy in more ways than one, and your smooth voice comforts people. Walter your comment was beautiful. Also Lisa B. Thanks

My condolences to the listener on your loss. I lost my mom to cancer in 2014 and I take comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering and in my hope to one day see her again.
Good job Wes, you help a lot of people without even knowing it.

Most definitely to all of the above! ??

Man, that’s an amazing compliment to Wes. I don’t think he knows how important his job is, and what it means to people. I for one think it’s the best there is and I’m thankful this guy;s father had SC to listen to while working with his dad. Thanks for sharing this Wes, and thank you to the man who took the time to share it with you.
