I read Stephen King’s book, “Pet Sematary”, many years ago, and it had a creature in it, they called a Wendigo.
It seems like it was heard, walking across the tops of the trees and through the trees.
The details aren’t clear to me anymore-, as to a description of the creature—-I may look that up.
It seemed like they spoke of it being a legend of the “Micmac Indian” (their term in the book ) tribe.

You probably already know this, but his stuff is fiction; even though I do think he’s the creepiest person alive! Who knows, maybe King just saw what was really there, in his mind.

Yes, I was mainly thinking out loud about the wendigo being written about.
I was trying to recall how it was used in the story. I think they heard it coming toward them when they went up to the pet cemetery.
Thanks. I agree–S King is indeed creepy. I just went through a phase of reading some of his books in the early 80’s…..

A Wendigo a.k.a Windigo[note 1] is a half-beast creature appearing in the legends of the Algonquian peoples along the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes Region of both the United States and Canada. The creature or spirit could either possess characteristics of a human or a monster that had physically transformed from a person. It is particularly associated with cannibalism. The Algonquian believed those who indulged in eating human flesh were at particular risk;[4] the legend appears to have reinforced the taboo against the practice of cannibalism. It is often described in Algonquian mythology as a balance of nature. The legend lends its name to the disputed modern medical term Wendigo psychosis. This is supposed to be a Culture-bound syndrome that features symptoms such as an intense craving for human flesh and a fear the sufferer is a cannibal. This condition was alleged to have occurred among Algonquian native cultures,[5] but remains disputed.

The Wendigo legend has inspired a number of derived characters commonly found in modern horror fiction.

Wes, u did an excellent interview with the woman and her son who lived on that property. Here are some highlights:

–1975 Spottsville, KY/Henderson Co. – The Nunnelly Property, a corn farm, along the Green River with thick forest behind the house. Family moved onto property and incidents started right after. Family left property after 11 months. My info comes from testimony of the matriarch of the family Rosalie, her son Bart and daughter in law Jackie.
–first strange thing seen were a dogs found mutilated in their cornfield. Not eaten, just killed. Then the Nunnelly’s own animals –a pig, a donkey and goat were found killed. Same as the dogs — Not eaten but just mutilated and left for dead. Also the Nunnelly’s chickens had gone missing.
    — then one day Rosalie and husband were planting veggies in there garden when both said they smelled something awful, which then was followed by huge and loud tree branches being broke. The cracking of trees grew so loud and intense the couple were scared back into the house. Shortly after this occurred some days later Rosalie said she saw a large hairy creature jump the fence along the tree line on her property.
–son Bart testified that after the fence jumping encounter the family would hear ear piercing screams at night coming from the tree line. Bart also stated the family had 2 pet dogs that were loving towards the family but very aggressive towards anyone else. But numerous times the dogs would cower and hide under the porch when the creature would come onto the property.
–other encounters include the kids seeing the creature cross the road one morning while waiting for the school bus. And a neighbor who had seen the creature while hunting squirrels on his own and the Nunnelly’s property.
–first full encounter by Rosalie came at dusk when daughter in law Jackie went out to gather the kids to come inside since it was getting dark. Some distance away on the property was an abandoned barn that had a light attached to it. It was there where Rosalie saw the creature standing under the light watching the children. She saw the creature in full view and described it as 8 feet tall and covered with hair. Massive bulk along the torso and legs.
–After three or four calls to the Police asking for help and nothing witnessed by the authorities the Police eventually stopped coming out to the property and were uncooperative feeling like the Nunnelly’s were out of there minds.
–Nunnellly’s had a neighbor one half mile down the road from them who the Nunnellys would call after the cops refused the Nunnelly’s calls. Neighbor would show up with his rifle and would help them any way he could. Happens to be the same neighbor who claims he saw the creature while squirrel hunting.
–Events came to a peak when after months of non-stop aggressive activity ceased to halt Rosalie’s husband had asked a couple relatives and friends to come over with shotguns and pistols. They all took position on the roof of the house one evening. A couple hours later the creature was spotted running from the tree line toward an old abandoned barn located on the farm. Many shots were fired. No dead creature or evidence of being hit such as blood was ever found. The Nunnelly’s moved out shortly after this.
    –a few more notes:
    A. these events were documented on Monster & Mysteries in America.
    B. the son Bart, and his brother had a very frightening encounter 10 years later near the old property while fishing on Burbank Lake.
    C. At some point while all this was going on the mother, Rosalie, had noticed bullet holes at the back door of the house leading to the back yard. The previous owner of the property had confessed to her that he had shot at the door a number of times fearing for his life cause he heard the creature on his porch trying to get in.

Altho Stephen King is a fictional writer, he tends to write some of his stories based on real life monsters, he also wrote a book about a sasquatch “The girl who loved Tom Gordon”. Story plot ironically is about a small girl who gets lost in the forest on a hiking trip and is stalked by a sasquatch.

The Mantis Man has been seen by many people who report being taken on ufos by the greys. They are said to control the greys and be the beings running things. Now, that deserves a big yikes from me.

One more thing, the mantis man beings are always reported wearing long robes, when seen on the ufos. They are considered alien not paranormal. They can control thoughts, read minds etc. and do things that seem paranormal to humans.Nothing first hand from me, from books and radio shows over the years.

thank you Stephen I was IN that tornado. I saw a lot of stuff flying around but not any butterflies or angels. Creeps me out everytime someone talks about this. That whole tornado situation in and of itself was “abnormal” .
