But not just Wa, Oregon has its share of places to go as well as Pa, Ohio, texas (big thicket, places east of Denton. Becareful in texas lots of not so friendly reports) There are lots of places across the US if you just go looking for the information and reports. And alot of the hotspots outside of the Wa area, I will talk about Wa because I lived there for a long time. People tend to talk about the places they know or have heard the most about. Listen and read long enough and you will know the other places as well

    Jeff,

Where you were camping was a good area, also if you go out towards Morton, and go into the Goat Rocks area I would be careful because alot of odd stories there including the Ape Canyon attack is out towards St Helens. The Olympic National Park is another area, as well as Harstine Island, Which is in the southern PS is another spot but the last 3 I would keep the family at a hotel, since there were some non-friendly reports there. Then there is out Near Battleground and Yacolt area’s which if I remember correctly is where Wes is.

I hate a pretty good idea where you were since I used to live out that way, the snorting and sniffing around COULD be attributed to the large amount of deer and Elk that live around there. As an example, I heard something rubbing up against the outside of the house one night and I got alarmed, there are alot of tweekers in the area but it was snowing out then as well. But come to find out after I got the lights on it was the elk eating the grass under the eaves where there was no snow and they were rubbing against the house and snorting as I disturbed them.
The sound of a woman being murdered could be attributed to the local foxes or cougars that are there as well. I also remember alot of people out looking for bigfoot in the area doing wood knocks and whooping. Though not always and the way sound carries in that valley area and echos it would have been coming from almost anywhere.
What I can’t explain is the whispering because I would hear it alot myself around the house sometimes in the day sometimes at night. I even heard it in my sons voice calling for me occasionally from outside when he was inside. That was something I never could figure out. Look don’t let it keep ya out of the woods and from camping. Just remember to toss alot of extra wood on the fire before ya goto bed and keep some handy in case it dies down in the middle of the night. Driving back into Ashford from that way I used to live in the Yellow A-frame next to the International Mountain Guides. But I havent lived there in 5 years or so now so don’t people go bugging them.
