Personally I haven’t figured out how to listen to member episodes other than through the site.

And sometimes I will know I’m not logged in because the member episode description isn’t visible.

I don’t have a problem with listening through the site. Maybe that’s an option for you?

    Good luck!

To my recollection Wes hasn’t mentioned anything about what’s happening for the 1000th episode.

I say we give him some grace. If he’s chosen not to do anything big for this milestone I’m sure he has his reasons.

I had (what seemed to me at 2 am) a cool idea. Now that it’s been like 10 years of SC maybe some of the encounters by kids could be shared if they are old enough.

I know Wes has mentioned interviewing kids but not putting them on the air due to their age. Now that he’s a SC Oldtimer some of those kids must be old enough by now! 😀

    Hi,

In case anyone doesn’t get the reference to Isaac’s older brother – I think we are actually talking about Jacob’s older brother Esau.

God’s bessing to Abraham to make a great nation of him by which the Messiah would come was given to Isaac. Who was born to Sarah when she was past the age of conception.

In ancient patriarchal times the blessings typically went to the oldest son. Technically, Isaac was not the oldest son, because Abraham had a son with Sarah’s handmaid Hagar. The prophesy didn’t specify that the “seed” would come through Sarah and she was concerned about the prophesy because she was getting too old to have children.

God told Abraham to send Ishmael away after a period of him bullying Isaac, and it must’ve been bad enough for God to intervene. He also made it clear that his blessing would go to Isaac. (Ishmael got lots of property and wasn’t sent away empty handed my any means).

Rebekah, Isaac’s wife, gave birth to twins Esau and Jacob (later renamed Israel by God) after many years of trying to conceive.

Esau started coming out breach, and the nursemaid/midwife tied a string to his heel so that it would be clear which baby was the oldest.

Then the little leg went back in and Jacob was born. That’s why his name means “supplantor”, because it was prophesied he would supplant his brother’s rights of first born.

It’s also noted that Esau was covered in red hair. It must’ve been a lot of hair for that to be mentioned specifically.

Welp, Esau was a great hunter and Isaac was all about it because “it meant game in his mouth.” And, apparently, he was this kind of man’s man.

Isaac was more gentle and spiritual and was basically Rebekah’s favorite.

The Bible says that Esau didn’t take his birthright seriously, not seeing its spiritual significance.

To emphasize that point, one day Esau came in from hunting and was really hungry. Jacob had made a stew. Esau was like “give me some” and Jacob was like “give me your birthright” and Esau was like here I am ready to starve, what use is a birthright to me?! And agreed.

Isaac had been pretty old by the time the boys were born, and towards the end of his life went blind.

It was never guaranteed that the blessing would go to the firstborn (e.g.; it didn’t go to Jacob/Israel’s firstborn Reuben). But that is what Isaac planned to do.

When he was about ready to die he called his sons in for their blessings. Rebekah, under divine influence maybe, made a plan with Jacob for him to get the Messianic blesaing.

They covered his arms in some kind of animal hair (I don’t remember) and made some other changes (can’t recall) and sent Jacob in.

Isaac felt his arm and believed him to be Esau, giving Jacob the blessing. When Esau came in after, Isaac was like “Whaaat?” And let him know the blessing had already been given. (No take backs).

Esau was furious. After getting his inheritance he went off to start his life.

It wasn’t until years (decades, probably) later that they saw each other again. Each brother had a huge household lf kids, servants, and pf course tons of livestock.

Jacob heard that Esau was coming and he was like holy crap, my brother is going to kill us all so he can have his birthright back!

He even put Rachel, his favorite wife’s, two sons at the very back of the procession just in case. And sent ahead gifts

When they finally met up Esau was completely over it and was like “my brother!!” And all was good.

I’m not sure I agree with the theory but I can see why some of the points could make a person come to the conclusion posted.

I typed this from memory on my phone so forgive any typos and such.

    Hi Knobby,
I’m trying to log in thru the app, I made an account.

Separate topic, I don’t know how to post but I’m listening to Ep: 928 again.

I have a theory about the sticks and the corn. When Wes said “its big grubby hands” it made me think of contamination.

Using the sticks to get the corn would keep their scent from getting all over the corn, I wonder if it did that would stop the deer from coming and feeding. Which, would mess up their hunting.

It would also be less noticeable to humans. Although, considering the farm animals mangled found, that doesn’t seem to be a concern.

Does anyone think that theory has merit? Because it is just plain weird.
