ParticipantHi Pam. I’m light years from being any kind of computer whiz. But I looked on YouTube the other day to learn how to do a screenshot capture. Here’s the link to the video that I used. I did try it on a video and it works you simply pause the vid. I hope this help’s.

ParticipantWell we agree. The driveway is covered with 1″ limestone gravel. After capturing this audio on the next trip out. I tried to recreate it and nailed it the first time. Just picked up two stones and Walla. So human? bird? bugger? I can only think of something with a beak or an opposable thumb. Your thought’s?
This sound still occasionally happens sometimes close sometimes further away.
Here is the other half of the audio (rocks rubbing). They were a seamless recording but I split them. The back ground noise is worse and it’s looped 3 or 4 times.

ParticipantBen H. I’m glad that you listened to the audio. What you heard was what I was suggesting to as “grunts & groans” and is opened to anyone’s interpretation and they would not be wrong.
I sure that you would agree that with out proof any type of wildlife audio recording is open to interpretation and skepticism.
“PROOF”. Man there’s another subject that’s open to personal interpretation and opinion. And one that I’m not personally armed to deal with.
“Though being close to the house it could just be picking up sound from a television or something.” Ben I’m with ya on this one. It could be. In the past I have captured deep base muffled thumping that could only coming from the house so the potential is there.
Just for fun. Here’s another audio clip. Same location same mic. I should note that my subscription on the wma to mp3 format converter has expired. So we’ll see if Vocaroo will play it.

ParticipantThanks Howard K, I enjoyed watching the vid. certainly some food for thought.
I hope that someday live capture of the Thylacine can happen. I have a affinity for this animal.February 14, 2017 at 8:28 am #99499Bobby W
ParticipantHey Pam, Talk about synchronicity. Yesterday I went down to my local NAPA auto parts store just to hang out and visit with my friends there. And after being there for a while this gentleman came in to buy some parts and he started telling about this “UFO” that he had seen and videoed Christmas night 2016. The quality of the video was very poor at best. I could just make out a fast “squiggly” light and the video was only 6 seconds long.
Here is a video that I found on YouTube that is only a vague representation of what that I watched. He was convinced the video was going to make him some money. And I just thought good luck with that.

ParticipantDanny T, With the assumption that the damage occurred when the close knocks were heard on the morning’s of 1-13 and 1-14-2017 and having taken the pic’s on 1-15-2017. I don’t think enough time has elapsed and also being winter that no healing has occurred. Thanks much.

ParticipantBen, I’m extremely fortunate in this little project to have the help of the home owner. The parabolic microphone is located at the outside east wall of the house with a head phone extinction cable running from the mic to inside the garage where the H4n recorder is on a table and is powered via house power. The microphone requires phantom power to drive the lavaliere mic that’s in the center of the dish so having house power really saves on battery’s which last no time driving the mic. So the home owner turns the recorder on in the evening and off the next morning. Then I periodically go out to visit with “Chester” and change out the SD card and share snippets of the audio recordings with him.
Here’s an old picture of the microphone. It now sets right against the house at same location and pointing the same direction (NE.) and hasn’t been moved in a long time.
Please note the tree in front and to the left of the mic. This is the tree with the stones at the base and the damage marks that we have been discussing.

ParticipantI’m going to try and pin some audio to my post here. In the past when I’ve used “Vocaroo voice message” the audio did post but some quality was sacrificed.
Just to describe the what sounds one should hear if the audio is decent. Distant and very close knocks, ( some of these knocks are pretty fast) and what I believe to be nostril blowing (this sound is very deep in tone) also some grunting or low growling.
This recording was make about six months ago. It is in NO WAY connected to the tree damage pic’s that are posted in the pictures here in this thread.

ParticipantHi Chris442. Absolutely it’s possible. But the surprise that the home resident showed when I pointed too the tree marks was real. In fact the guy went and had his sister come outside to also have a look at the tree and she was surprised as well. So I’m convinced the close knocks they both heard in the early AM hours of the previous morning and the morning of the photo’s were done on this tree.
Thank you Chris. I do appreciate your question.

ParticipantBen H,
I totally agree with the idea of looking as deep as possible into the back ground. I’ve done it for ever. I do it while watching the Les Stroud’s survivor man BF episodes in particular. I usually lose track of any thing Les saying Ha.I have a photograph of the same area from a different perspective that I’m sure some my find intriguing. Especially now that the subject matter has opened up some. But I was hoping to post it to it’s own post thread at some time. Thanks Ben it’s cool to hear from you again. Bob.

ParticipantSteve, I think that I’ll just settle for a pic’s. Cause I’m sure old SAS has let his insurance lapse.
