    @Eric,you are close. One comment that I made in reference to who would hide this,is what was stated to me in the parking lot. A comment that I posted here in the forum.
    I don’t really care,because I’m not a researcher,and don’t give a crap if I ever see see another one.

    @Chris,you nailed it!

    @Dave
    ,Thanks man, and I’m going back with my wife to visit her family in a few weeks,and her cousin is taking me out on Lake Erie to fish.
    @Gum,my comments were not directed at anyone in particular,but at everyone in general who seriously thinks that our government could keep a secret like this as long as it supposedly has.

    My former neighbor,was a retired FBI agent,and one evening,we were discussing the Aldrich Ames case,which he had been involved on the periphery. He made a statement that sticks with me today. “The chances of a secret being blown are proportionate to the number of people who know the secret.” Meaning that the more people who know,the greater the chance of a secret being blown.
    If the government were actually hiding bigfoot from citizens here,since from let’s say the 1940’s,then as many as over 10-25000 people would have to have participated in this cover up,,and that is a low estimate in my opinion.I’ve heard of everyone from military personel,to practically the entire department of the interior being involved!
    No sir,the cat would have been out of the bag a long time ago. Plus,I see no logical reason for the government to want to hide this.
    I’m not going to name names about who did what to me,mostly because I have no proof,just what I was told and have discovered. What their reasons might be is beyond my comprehension too. And,I also really don’t care.
    My current job is in management for a government contractor. We do everything from mow grass,haul off garbage,and pressure was buildings,all the way up to construction and maintenance of facilities and gates,parking lots,pinic areas,etc.
    During orientation, I was shown a form to fill out in case an employee or a civilian,had contact with an animal,such as a raccoon or a fox brazenly approaching them them,or anything like that. There is a form and a protocol which we report to the government project managers.These animals are hunted down and quarantined to determine if they have rabies,if not,the are taken away and released.
    There is another form. It’s for Strange Animal Encounters. I asked what that meant,if somebody sees bigfoot or something?
    My supervisor smiled and looked me in the eye and said “Yep! Don’t laugh,it happens”
    The protocol is that the government contacts people to investigate. I don’t know who,but why would we have a damned form to fill out if the government is hiding it? We are not bound to any agreement to not tell about it. Only the security of some of the facilities is closely guarded. The blueprints of buildings,and the security features are the only thing they hammer into us about not revealing.
    @Pam,that’s exactly right. I couldn’t have said it better.

    @Curly
    , that’s me.

    Think a little deeper and what you find just might surprise you. It surprised me!

    @RodneyM,That’s as good an explanation as any. I suppose it could be that.
    During my encounter when I fired my pistol inside the van,it felt like someone slapped me with cupped hands over both ears,and the pain was so bad that I thought I was going to pass out.
    I was so afraid,that throughout my encounter ,all I felt was like I was moving in slow motion or something. I can’t really explain it.
    So I guess your theory is valid,I just don’t like to see people link things to the boogers as if it’s exclusive,when it’s a common everyday occurrence in nature.
    Perhaps it is something in our fight or flight that singles out or focuses on the silence.
    But a lot of the reports state that it was absolutely silent,Before the encounter or sighting.
    It was storming to beat hell during my encounter so I can’t say yes or no to that question.
    I just know that many times in my life while out in the woods,sudden silence,ALWAYS,caught my attention.Most of the time I was able to figure out what caused it. But there have been times when I couldn’t figure it out,and on a couple of occasions I got really spooked.
    Was it a booger? Who knows! It’s possible.But like I said,most of the time it was a deer or some other animal or another hunter.

    Forest animals will go silent anytime they see any large animal;humans,deer,bear,even coyotes and bobcats,moving around in their environment. I was taught this as a child by the older family members who taught me the outdoors. It’s just nature.
    I have on many,many occasions walked to where I was going to hunt and heard everything go totally silent. After I sat quietly for 10 min or so,long enough for the squirrels,birds and insects to see that I was no danger to them,all the sounds return to normal.
    I was taught to sit as motionless and silent as possible and to watch the animals around you,because when a deer would move into an area,insects and squirrels go quiet,and birds will fly away or move from tree to tree making noise announcing an intruder. In particular,crows and blue jays.
    Hell,my uncle taught me how to use 3 quarters to imitate the sound of a squirrel feeding on hickory nuts after I sat down,which would often cause all the other sounds to return to normal. It’s also a great way to get a shot at a squirrel that hides on the far side of a tree,because he will move around to investigate the sound.
    We were also trained to use this natural phenomenon in the military. On several occasions during training,animal sounds,or the lack of animal sounds,alerted me aND my squad mates to the presence of “enemy troops”.
    This is not something that anyone with any experience in the outdoors would question,because it’s not limited to encounters with boogers. It’s just a normal reaction of insects and all animals to a potential predator nearby,no matter if it’s a booger,or a bobcat,or even a deer.
    To small animals and insects,EVERYTHING,is a potential predator.
    People who don’t know any better,or have never experienced it first hand,try to ascribe it to sasquatch, but it’s just a natural reaction by potential prey,to a potential predator.
    I think that because many people do not think of themselves as potential prey,or do not use this phenomenon to hunt other animal
    ,tend to remember and focus on this when they have an encounter. The reason for this is beyond my knowledge of human psychological reactions.

    @Gum;My friend,I came here to come out,and to find a way to learn to deal with what I learned that night.
    It’s truly a life changing event.
    I have a question for you.
    Before you saw what you saw,were you a believer? Or a knower,from your friend? What was the greatest change for you?
    You see,I was a knower before my experience.
    I belonged to a hunting club that had nearly 4000 acres of land. We had experienced weird crap on many occasions, and I once tracked a pair of large barefoot prints for 3/4 of a mile across our property before I lost the tracks at a large creek.
    But I always figured;”Ah hell,they are just curious about us and all the crap we do! They won’t bother us!”
    I really believed that too.
    I know I was very wrong now,after what I saw.
    I’m convinced that they are very,very dangerous!

    @Gum,kinda sux when you suddenly realize that you are not the apex predator that mankind thinks he is,doesn’t it?
    I’m a combat veteran myself,and have known what fear tastes like. My encounter reminded me again.

    I hope your niece is able to get through this. Tell her for me that I know how she feels,and to just learn to accept the fact that they are real,and they are out there. It gets easier over time.

    You guys are so right! Where I had my encounter was the LAST Damned place I would have expected,when compared to all the days I’ve spent in the woods over my life.
    But I now know why I would sometimes feel like I was being watched. And still do sometimes.

    Hi Pam. Yeah,I understand exactly what you are saying. My new job now requires me to often be out alone in wooded areas,and there are times when I almost run back to my truck because I get so creeped out.
    I try not to let it get the best of me but it still does occasionally.
