ParticipantThat’s what I was thinking it was too, I guess I just wanted some sort of validation because it’s the last place I would’ve expected to have an encounter. The more I think about it the creepier it gets! Just had to happen right before bed. Hahaha

ParticipantYeah Shawano is about an hour, hour and a half away from where this occurred. I know a few years back there was some reports in Kiel in Calumet county, which is about 30 mins from where this occurred. Part of me says no, that wasn’t what you think it was because it was right on the edge of town. But the other part of me that has seen eyeshine from deer, raccoons, possums, hell even a black bear that crossed the road in front of me says what the hell was it, because I don’t have a good explanation for it.

Participant@Phil Possibly. The “eye” was just so large though. I just googled pictures of owl eyeshine for reference, and whatever was glowing back at me was at least twice the size compared to the eyeshine in the pictures.

ParticipantI don’t want to give out the name of the town since it was right outside the town I currently live in, but I will say it was in Outagamie county in Wisconsin.

Participant@Danny Yes, I was about 10 or 11 when I had my encounter. For a few months after it happened I almost seemed to kind of “forget” about it, some sort of defense mechanism I guess.

ParticipantI had an encounter, which was posted to the blog here on SC about a year ago. I’ll see if I can dig back far enough to find it.
Here’s the post:

ParticipantMaybe it was just me but I think I saw a bit of a snout? Not like a Dogman, but maybe a Gugwe? Look closely at the part where it’s zoomed in. Maybe it’s just its mouth or its chin, but it looked like a bit of a snout to me.

Participant@Dave T Yeah, I’d estimate it to be about 150 feet away, about 60 yards or so. It happened when I was 10 or 11, and I’m 21 now, so I can’t recall any super fine details, but I do remember alot. The things that stand out the most to me was just how frickin massive this thing was, I mean it was above 7 foot no doubt and had to weigh at least 500 lbs, I’m sure more than that even. It was built like a brick sh!thouse, I remember the chest, shoulders and arms just being huge. The thing I always thought of comparing it to when I was younger was being built and muscular like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I remember it was covered in gray fur, and was very shaggy and thick on it’s torso and shoulder area. I’ll never forget it’s eyes, they were yellow and they seemed to glow. It had pointed ears at the top of it’s head, and the face was definitely that of a werewolf. I know I said that in my original post, but this thing looked absolutely nothing like a German Shepherd or a wolf, it looked like a werewolf. It was bipedal the entire time, never thought to look at the feet and was too young and scared to think to go look for tracks. I don’t recall if there was a tail or not.
The image I attached is an almost perfect sketch of what I saw. The head and face are almost perfect to what I remember. The dogman I saw had it’s mouth open similar to the sketch, but like I said, it was like an evil smile rather than just showing teeth. What I saw was just a little more built, and had longer, shaggier fur on it’s torso and around the shoulders.

ParticipantSure, I’d love to tell you guys about my encounter. It happened in Northeast Wisconsin,I was about 10 or 11 years old at the time. I was spending a night or two at my grandparents property, and they live out in the country. The area around there is a lot of farm fields, with patches of densely wooded areas. My grandparents own a few acres, and in the far corner of their backyard it turns into a swampy, wooded area. If you go down to the edge of their yard to the left, it’s a wooded area. To the right, it’s a swampy, densely forested area.
So it’s a hot July morning, and I’m out on the back deck plinking cans with my BB Gun. The edge of the yard I just described is about 60-80 yards to my right. All of a sudden I get this creepy sensation like I’m being watched. I tried to shrug it off, and kept shooting cans. I couldn’t shake the feeling though, and started scanning the treeline at the edge of the yard. I start looking, and it’s standing next to a tree right at the edge of the swamp. When I was older I went and measured the tree this thing was standing next to to try and get a height measurement, and I’d estimate it to be 7 to 7 and a half feet tall. It was absolutely massive. It was covered in gray shaggy fur, had pointed ears on top of its head, yellow eyes that seemed to glow, and it had this sinister smile on its face. I know that sounds nuts, but it was like it was smiling at me with evil intentions. I’ve heard alot of people describe dogmen as having a wolf like or German Shepherd like head, but this thing looked like a werewolf. It did not resemble the average wolf or dog. I was staring at it and it was staring back at me, and it felt like it was an eternity but it was probably only ten to fifteen seconds. All of a sudden, it took off to the left through a field of thick tall grass and weeds, emerged farther down the treeline and took off into the forest. It ran and stood on two legs the entire time, and no person would be able to clear what it ran through in the time that it did.
Funny enough, that same day, I think about an hour before I had the encounter, my aunt was telling me she had heard strange noises outside the night before. Like a snarling and screeching is what I remember her telling me. I didn’t speak about what I saw for years, and a few years ago I finally told my grandparents. It was odd, cause they didn’t seem to have much of a reaction. Their reaction was just kind of a shoulder shrug and they just seemed to accept it. They then told me that back in the 60s or 70s a local farmer saw a big “monkey” run across the road not far down the road one night as he was driving home. I still visit them fairly often so next time im there I could definitely take pictures of where I had my encounter, and I’m more than willing to answer any questions any one may have about my encounter! Sorry in advance if there’s any typos or words that don’t make sense, I typed this all up on a cell phone so autocorrect may have got me a time or two haha

ParticipantDefinitely gives me Dogman vibes. As someone who’s had an encounter with a Dogman, seeing the eyes gave me the same sort of vibe I had when I had my encounter.

ParticipantDefinitely. I think the dispatcher kind of picked up that whatever it was wasn’t a person, but didn’t want to say it either. Always freaks me out when the guy calling 911 all of a sudden says “Jesus Christ, you better get someone out here now” just knowing he all of a sudden saw it again after it had just disappeared.

ParticipantThe last recording of the screams in Puyallup, WA from 1993 never fails to spook me. Sounds eerie and pissed off!!
Edit: link didn’t work. Posting from a phone so that could be why. Any way here’s the link

Participant@Robert, I know which picture you’re talking about, and that creature almost seems to have a bit of a snout, to me anyway. It also appears to have some pretty big lower canines. Possibly one of the more aggressive types of Squatch or even a Gugwi?? It’s definitely not the same type of creature as Patty or the wood boogers.

ParticipantHey everybody, I’m a longtime listener of the show and now a first time poster. I’ve never personally seen a Sasquatch, however I believe I have seen a dogman. It happened when I was 10 or 11 (I’m 20 now for reference), not going to give the exact location of my encounter but it happened in Northeast Wisconsin. I was visiting my grandparents, who live out in the country and the land out there is farms, fields and patches of woods.
It was mid summer, and it was a super warm and muggy morning, about 11 am I’d say. I’m out in the backyard shooting cans with my BB Gun, and I got the feeling like I was being watched. My grandparents own a couple acres of land, and part of their land is some forest. So I have this really unnerving feeling that something is watching me, so I start looking around the yard. I get to the treeline of the woods, and then I saw it. It was about 7 or 7 1/2 feet tall, standing either next to or partially behind a tree, I can’t remember exactly. It was probably about 80 yards away. It was covered in gray shaggy fur, and had the head of a wolf, but slightly bigger and different looking. The best way I can describe the head is the sketch of a dogman that Linda Godfrey has in her Beast of Bray Road book, the one where it’s kneeling by the side of the road holding a dead raccoon on a moonlit night. That’s almost exactly what I saw, except what I saw had a lot shaggier fur. It was absolutely huge, like the chest and the shoulders. It also had these piercing yellow eyes, it was like it was looking into my soul. Worst yet, it almost seemed to have this sinister smile on it’s face. I don’t know if it actually was smiling or that was just the way it’s face was, but it sure appeared to be smiling. Like I said though, it wasn’t a happy smile, it was definitely evil. So we both lock eyes for probably only about 5 seconds but it felt like an eternity, and then it turned, and took off on two legs through some really dense brush/weeds, through a patch of pine trees and emerged farther down the treeline, broke off from the treeline and ran into the woods. It covered the space in maybe 10 seconds, and there is no possible way a human could run through what it ran through in the time that it did.
I was absolutely terrified, but never told my grandparents at the time because I figured they’d think I was crazy. I was also almost too scared to talk about it. I told them a few years ago about it, and it was met with a kind of uncanny silence and a shoulder shrug, and they told me that back in the 60s or 70s a farmer down the road was driving home one night and saw “a monkey run across the road”. There’s no “monkeys” native to Wisconsin that I know of! What I saw though was absolutely not a Sasquatch, I don’t even believe it was a Gugwi or anything like that. Without a doubt in my mind I saw a dogman, because it looked just like the sketches Linda Godfrey has in her dogman books. It’s still scary to think about, definitely something I’d not like to encounter ever again, even if I was armed to the teeth.
