m99ModeratorTownes van Zandt – Texas Troubadour
💙 I miss you in the world, Townes van Zandt. Do you ever miss someone in the World?
He was ruined early in life. He used substances unfortunately to deal. He had aspirations early on and wanted to be an attorney, but it wasn’t meant to be.
If van Gogh is Yellow, Townes would be Blue, I suppose, after a time in his life. That’s how it was with him. But to me he was Gold. Not brassy gold, but pure gold, that transparent Gold of Heaven. I pray he made it. He may have. You don’t know.
The Lord loves all, but he really draws the broken and lame. That’s what I like. To touch the broken and lame. Then continue to cover them with prayers forever and unforgettable. I hope to see them too.
Well Townes was a sweet sensitive genius. Who knows? Maybe he’s Royal Blue and Golden now. I hope so. _m 💙

m99ModeratorI close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment’s gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosityDust in the wind
All they are is dust in the windSame old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to seeDust in the wind
All we are is dust in the windNow don’t hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won’t another minute buyDust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind

“Yellow”
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellowI came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called “Yellow”So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellowYour skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
Do you know
You know I love you so
You know I love you soI swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
‘Cause you were all yellowI drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellowYour skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
Do you know
For you I’d bleed myself dry
For you I’d bleed myself dryIt’s true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shineLook at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do-

Vincents Letters
London, April 1875
My dear Theo,
I’m sending you herewith a small drawing. I made it last Sunday, the morning a daughter (13 years old) of my landlady died. 1 It’s a view of Streatham Common, 2 a large, grass-covered area with oak trees and broom.
It had rained in the night, and the ground was soggy here and there and the young spring grass fresh and green.
As you see, it’s scribbled on the title page of the ‘Poesies d’Edmond Roche’.
3 There are beautiful ones among them, serious and 1v:2 sad, including one that begins and ends:Sad and alone, I climbed the sad, bare dune,
Where the sea keens its ceaseless moaning plaint,
The dune where dies the wide unfurling wave,
Drab path that winds and winds upon itself again.4 and another, ‘Calais’
How I love to see you once again, o my native town,
Dear sea nymph seated at the waters’ edge!
I love the soaring spire of your belltower,
Lovely in its boldness and its elegance,
Its fretted cupola, through which we see the sky.5 You’ll probably be curious about what goes with the etching by Corot
6 and so I’ve copied that out as well.
1v:3
The pond to Corot
We watched the pond, its water leaden, drear,
Form crease upon crease slowly in the breeze,
And the mud, enfolding in a softened line
The prow and black sides of a boat aground; The woods’ high crown, leaf by fallen leaf,
Lay strewn upon the ground; the sky was filled with mist;
We two, in whispers, almost furtively,
Were sadly saying, ‘Summer’s past:These slopes have lost their accustomed grace;
No more green foliage, no more golden light
Trembling in the trembling water or touching tops with gold!’This idyll may yet come before our eyes again,
If you would have it so: are you not the master
Who re-created it after its first creator’s hand?Ville-d’Avray7
1r:4
Warm regards, and I wish you the best. AdieuVincent

m99ModeratorAll Along the Watchtower
There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no reliefBusinessmen, they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody offered his word
Hey!No reason to get excited
The thief, he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a jokeBut uh, you and I, we’ve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talking falsely now
The hour’s getting late
Hey!All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants tooOutside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl, heyAll along the watchtower
All along the watchtowerby Bob Dylan

m99Moderator@Steven B ~ Now I know for sure; she’s got a hold of you. Getting that duck called could do it just fine, at least for now. Yeah, that was very cool. Passing thought, bet those Mongolians Jingle Bell fellows go out of their way to the place to warm up too. Just sayin’ _m

m99Moderator@Steve E ~ Oh. What a treat. Art is a form of meditation for me. It works until I drop (when I visit an art gallery). I really needed that! Thanks.
It’s great to see you around. I have been wondering how ur doing and if you planned on coming back to the space we call the forum. The name (forum) comes from the “forums” of Ancient Rome. It’s an intended conversation re a specific topic. Although I’m glad the area has been opened to any discussion, I tend to miss the Sasquatch related stuff where the researchers speak. So happy they’re beginning to do that again. But art for art’s sake is also an intended topic and it’s great to finally get an artist to post here.
Your art may need a person to assist in getting it out there. I’ve known artists and knew the frustration of not having an audience to admire and want to buy a special piece. So, just a wondering, do you have art shows (currently)?
Art was an important part of my teenage years. I found myself escaping to art shows where my dear friends displayed their work. Once an adult, I attended museums featuring great art masters. I’ve stood before van Loo (don’t recall which!), Rubens, El Greco’s, to name a few. In Atlanta I enjoyed a replication display of Classical Sculpture. Without seeing the real thing, the show was amazing. My children loved it too. I don’t recall if I’ve seen van Gogh’s work in person but, he’s my Favorite artist of all time.
Also, I consider photography as great art, so find what you do very intriguing. I wasn’t kidding. If I had a loft, I’d simply place your work there, on the wall of the stairs, happily displayed where it’d greet me as often as I’d be there. It’d be a theme. It’d be a parade. It’d be a focus form and of beauty. One style. One artist’s work. Colorful. Real. Happy. Inspiring. Ah, but there I go, huh?
I’m so glad you’ve posted, put yourself, your art here. Thank you for that. Hope you’ll stick around the forum too. Be well _m

m99ModeratorThat’s interesting. I grew up in SETX, and we could see the alligators swimming in the morning… I also grew up on a Bayou and didn’t worry about the gators. They just left people alone. It was the Cottonmouths that worried us. Ewwwww _m
