ParticipantI’ll watch it but DP is a bit of a mixed bag. I agree that his work is good but he doesn’t follow up on cases to see if anything came of them years later.
Once he decides that something is a 411, he doesn’t reverse course.September 6, 2022 at 4:38 pm #214723Hiker1
ParticipantThe OP wasn’t about .50 caliber revolvers in general. It’s regarding a Remington.50

ParticipantSometimes people bumble their words, especially when being interviewed. Also, not all gun owners are gun enthusiasts. Could just be a mistake.

ParticipantBill F, James N and Amy H have the best responses on this thread.
A lot of people seem to think that if they love nature, it will love them back. There is no Mother Nature, no Mother Earth. Nature just is.

ParticipantI generally agree with Russell. I’ve had two sightings, 5 years apart, and got lucky in both cases. I would also add that sometimes they slip up, especially in windy or rainy conditions. One of my close friends had a double-sighting during high wind.
My group and I camp multiple times a year, often in deep Rocky Mountain wilderness, and we get activity maybe 20% of the time and someone has a sighting, maybe 10%.
Mostly, we just enjoy camping, hiking and backpacking.
One of our friends owns property in a southern state and when we go there, we have activity 100% of the time and sightings probably 20%. We also have thermal and night vision equipment.Tree knocks and the like – sometime you’ll get a return knock and that’s the end of that little experiment. You won’t fool them twice. The chill-out-by-the-campfire approach is best for drawing in some of the curious ones.
My buddy with the southern property has recently acquired a device that brings them in right to his cabin. They don’t seem to like it, as the reactions have been negative and scary, but I acquired one as well and we’ll see how they react out here in the Rockies once the backcountry snow melts.

ParticipantThis is like asking what you’ll do with your Powerball winnings.
Y’all wild!

ParticipantRogan has an excellent podcast with a wide range of guests and controversial topics but on this subject, I suspect it’s just too scary for him to deal with.
He hunts some and the idea of massive and sometimes aggressive creatures roaming the wilderness is just too much for him.May 23, 2021 at 5:36 pm #188970Hiker1
ParticipantHere’s some additional input: somebody died. Don’t be so ghoulish

ParticipantNot sure why this is sparking so many “oohs” and “aahs”. Wilderness hiking is not a zero-risk activity.

ParticipantNo-one is going to be able to guarantee you a sighting. If you want to see one, you’ll need to put in the time, travel, expense, networking, etc. and you still might never actually see one.

ParticipantI’ve hiked that trail several times. There are a number of places a person could fall, or slip, become injured or die and likely not be found especially once body heat dissipates.

ParticipantKnobby, is that what he “needs” to do because Knobby from this forum said so?
Gum, I don’t know if he’s in his vehicle or not but he is actually out doing things. By your own admission, you never go into the field at all.
Sam E is right. This forum has absolutely nothing to offer. I am out as well.

MOD NOTE
Nothing was said to you to warrant that reaction. Like I told Sam E on another thread today, you need to abide by rule # 1 and be respectful to other participants.March 16, 2017 at 10:52 am #101323Hiker1
ParticipantTo be fair, the guy taking the video did not say that there was a very clear picture of a Dogman. He just says there are figures in that area.
I know him personally and he is a good guy and very active in that area. In fact I’m going down there with him in two weeks.March 14, 2017 at 8:47 pm #101244Hiker1
ParticipantOne more thing: The Squatches up here (I live in Colorado) are not as vocal as they are in other parts of the country, especially the south. They do, however, make some great structures.
I can send you into an area not too far from where you will be that is absolutely active. It is not for the faint of heart, though.
Let me know and we can figure out how to message each other .
