Dave T I would of thought Sasquatch being Ape like can probably climb that tree quicker than you can, and probably much quicker than you would expect. I don’t want to get into what firearms it would take to stop him again (done that) but if you are confident you can stop this 1000lb ape that is about twice the size of a gorilla coming up the tree, in the dark not a bad plan as long as his mates are not with him.

I do agree getting your scent off the ground would be an advantage they would not expect, and would definately help if you are trying to see one but if he rumbles you and cannot see you can defend yourself he might consider you an easy meal.

There have been several encounters with hunters in tree stands and I wonder if seeing the firearm is enough to stop him coming up the tree?

Some of you make some good points and I would rather have a .44 mag than nothing if facing a Squatch, but my point is I think you would still lose this fight if this is all the firepower you have. There are some impressive handguns out there, but would you take one to Africa to hunt one of the ‘big five’ or would you take a rifle with plenty of firepower and accuracy. If you pull the trigger on a Cape Buffalo you often need to shoot it again because it will seek you out until it is down / dead. Also most powerful handguns do not allow a quick follow up shot.

I agree that at close quarters a handgun is more handy, but I also say if Squatch is that close and it is now a fight to the death you have lost if he is this close. A 1200lb muscle bound 8′ tall plus creature that can move 2-3 times as fast as you has to be put down before he gets close, and so do his mates. You might mortally wound him but he will kill you before he is done if you do not incapacitate him.

So my original point is take a .70 cal assault rifle (12 gauge semi auto or full shotgun) to the fight or better. Handguns will just piss him off even more.

Like I already said pistol ammo waste of time, and are we running a dating site now? You can throw pistol ammo to make you feel better but this fella is going take you anyway and you will just upset him more. Going back to the original question you need to stop this fella from hurting you and lethal action means penetration and damage. I also think that if you kill one you might need to kill three or more and you need to factor in this into your response.

My point being, 70 cal beats 50 cal on size, and lead down range. Much cheaper and common and if I was to think about the original question the answer is semiautomatic shotgun with at least BB or slug and as a back up another semiautomatic shotgun. Forget Pistol ammo or expanding ammo designed for Humans or much smaller game than squatch an if you shoot one expect two more to turn up and get serious with you.

Nice Steven B. Maybe use some of these in it. For all you 50 cal fans there is a comparison that shows these are the daddies in the film. 70 CAL !

50 cal is .50″ 500 grain projectile. I would pick the 12 gauge .69″ 450 grain projectile any time at close quarters. As my vid above shows you can get ten rounds off very quick and reload ten rounds in a couple of seconds ready for the other two now getting into the fight! You might not have quite a little less energy per shot, but are are throwing more through the air than any fifty cal. Don’t see many fifty calls with open sights either which will also slow you down. If you kill one expect to kill a few more I would say, and whatever you do, don’t fumble the reload!

My non shooting friend having a go on my Anti Squatch gun. 12 Gauge solid slug, 10 round mags. Although if my mate is shooting they might need to be a little closer.

Has it also occurred to anyone that the Government has removed bones and fossils from Museums and collections?

I am also pretty sure they have more than fossils as well, which almost certainly includes a complete body. There are too many stories about Government involvement, which for me proves they secretly know they exist.

Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

I firmly believe there would be far more encounters with these guys if actually the last thing you do when seeing one of these is live. I think where the conditions are right they will take you like we would take a deer.

This is an intelligent wild animal that we do not know enough about and under estimate it at your peril.

I saw that James, but I think there is something there that has an outline.

I also do think Pam Purple Rose they would need technology like this to get near this animal in it’s own environment. I don’t think you could stalk one like you do a deer.

I also think this could be a light anomaly, but I do have another possible explanation:

Us military have perfected this type of light bending camouflage and it is in use today with special forces. It does rather look like the ‘predator effect’ in use. A company called Quantum Stealth were supplying it but I think they have changed to a new supplier in the US.

This is a useful youtube clip. If you want to save some time go to 3:25

I do not know the circumstances of where this was seen, but maybe that was a military person using this camouflage leaving.

If the military are involved in keeping Bigfoot quiet or even hunting them down, what a perfect tool for doing so.

Steven B and Patrick you make some great and interesting points. Thanks for the video on Dogman types as well.

My point however was that whilst we as BF believers are more open minded than your average Joe, should not be close minded that there may be other things out there. The video talks about different types of Dogman so why might there not be different creatures as well.

Sticking your head in the sand is never the way to be ready for the unknown.
