Man attacked by a large unknown animal with dark, coarse hair

attackJACKSBORO, Tenn. (WATE) – An east Tennessee man said he was attacked by a wild animal Friday, and investigators immediately got to work, warning the public and searching for a possible bear in the White Bridge area of Campbell County.

But now, officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) said there is zero evidence at the scene. In fact, there might not even be a scene.

Michael Savage, 27, said he was attacked around 4 a.m. Friday morning by an animal with dark, coarse hair.

After the attack, the TWRA said they could not confirm the attack was caused by a bear, but they did issue a bear warning and put out a trap.

attack1“I got grabbed, and I got picked up off my feet, and I rolled around with what appeared, something appeared to be very big and black,” Savage told WATE. “It grabbed me and then I had a knife on me and I did stick it a few times. That’s when it scratched me on my stomach.”

Savage said he ended up with 132 stitches.

However, after investigating, Matt Cameron with the TWRA said they are “fairly certain” Savage was not attacked by a bear or any other wild animal.

Cameron said Savage’s injuries show he was not attacked by an animal and there isn’t any evidence at the scene where Savage said he fought with the animal for 20 minutes.

“If he were able to stab it, there should be blood, there should be hair, there should be a blood trail,” said Cameron. “There are no defensive wounds on him. There’s no bite marks; they’re all lacerations. People that have been attacked by a bear will have bite marks on them, on their arms, their hands, on their back, and he just doesn’t have that.”

Cameron would not confirm if the injuries were self-inflected. He said TWRA will continue to investigate, but couldn’t say if there might be charges if Savage’s story isn’t true.

“To make up a story to this magnitude would be a considerable crime, considering the amount of money and manpower that that required that day and continues to require up to this point,” said Cameron.

Hmmm – Those lines seem consistently in one direction (e.g. hold a knife and cut several times although you need brass balls to cut yourself deep! If someone was being clawed while resisting strongly (inherent reaction) , I would expect more variability with the direction of the scratches – of course something could have gotten a few quick scrapes from the same direction. I would also think if it was bigfoot large, hard nails would scoop out a large trench of a gash, rather than thin lines – but I wasn’t there.

Does he still have his knife? What blood would be on it? Who examined the scene? the “Nothing to see here” part of the forrest service?

Got a kick out of one of the 2003 Tenesseee skunk-ape witnesses : “…he’s big and he’s got a really bad stinkful odor to him.” Classic! One of my theories about why the concept of sasquatch is fuzzy is that people in general lack the ability to fully describe BF. Most people are no good at describing anything at all, really, which is usually not a problem unless you’re a writer or trying to give a full description of something no one else has ever seen. Throw in the fact that you might be pooping your pants in fear during the time of the encounter, and–voila!–eyewitness accounts are just as fuzzy as all the videos. Anthony Moffet pointed out “these creatures have an ability to confuse the mind.” No $&!#. I wonder why the BFRO didn’t follow up and gain more details from all those witnesses?

Something attacked this man clearly. Look at this man he is a serious cat and second cutting your self to point of needing 132 stitches no chance. This is like an old jetti mind trick you did not see a bigfoot it was a bear move along citizen nothing to see here.

If not dead,I think he would be in a lot worse shape if a bigfoot grabbed him. This thing kills other animals to stay alive, animals that are by far more dangerous then this man. But he append to escape it? Hard to believe, but interesting, keep us posted.

did they take the knife to test the blood on it? If he fought off something like some of us think he would be broken in some places. 20 mins. with a small Chimpanzee he would be dead or close to it. if the time frame was like 45 sec maybe his story would be true.

It could have been a bigfoot, but a female human could have left scratches like that too and he had to go get stichesl because he continued to bleed from it and decided to say the scratches were from an animal. If any women turn up missing he should be a suspect. It’s odd the police claim the site where he says it happened shows no signs of a struggle. He’s bleeding and claims to have stabbed the animal but there is no blood. Did he take them to another location because he’s committed a crime against some woman and has made up this story because he had to seek medical treatment?

When the man was attack, I’m wondering if he had a
look at the animal? Was he attack from behind or within vision?
I haven’t herd or read of Sasquatch/Bigfoot attacking people but
that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before.
I believe all animals including Bigfoot can come into contact with rabies. I hope the man has a rabies test as well.
I’m also wondering what the number 14 tattoo is all about on his earlobe?

You’d know if it was a Sasquatch when the tracking dogs won’t follow. He’s stitched up. I bet he was a mess. I believe, it’s just my opionion Sasquatch attacks more people than anyone really wants to admit. If one attacked him he’s lucky.

If a domesticated Chimp can tear apart a woman within minutes taking a shovel beating, butcher knife and shooting – Its hard to believe 20 minutes with a squatch without being ripped apart limb from limb even if he stabbed it.

Here is an account of that infamous 2009 chimp attack – from Wikipedia
On February 16, 2009, Travis attacked Sandra Herold’s 55-year-old friend Charla Nash, inflicting devastating injuries to her face and limbs. Travis had left the house with the Herolds’ car keys, and Nash came to help get the chimp back in the house; upon seeing Nash holding one of his favorite toys, Travis immediately attacked her.[11] Travis was familiar with Nash, who had also worked at the Herolds’ towing company, although Nash had a different hair style at the time of the attack.[21] The chimp had been taking medication for Lyme disease.[10] Herold, then 70 years old, attempted to stop Travis by hitting him with a shovel and stabbing him with a butcher knife. “For me to do something like that – put a knife in him – was like putting one in myself,” Herold later said. The chimp turned around, she said, as if to say, “‘Mom, what did you do?'”[10] The ape was angered more. Herold then called 9-1-1 and pleaded for help. Travis’ screams can be heard in the background of the tape as Sandra pleads for police, who initially believed the call to be a hoax, until she started screaming, “He’s eating her!”[16][22][23] Emergency medical services waited for police before approaching the house. Travis walked up to the police car when it arrived, tried to open a locked passenger door, and smashed a side-view mirror. Then he went calmly around to the driver’s-side door and opened it, at which point Officer Frank Chiafari shot him several times. Travis retreated to the house, where he was found dead next to his cage.[11]

5 minutes from a stabbed chimp looks more like this (healed) http://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/picture_this/public/2011/06/10/112425-face-transplant-recipient-charla-nash-is-pictured-after-her-injury-in-.jpg

Hmmmm…… I too find it impossible to believe anyone could survive 20 mins of hand to hand combat with a Sasquatch.
This guy looks like the winner of a very human knife fight.
I wonder if there’s a loser resting in a shallow grave somewhere?
